Conformal symmetry and its breaking in two dimensional Nearly Anti-de-Sitter space [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We study a two dimensional dilaton gravity system, recently examined by Almheiri and Polchinski, which describes near extremal black holes, or more generally, nearly $AdS_2$ spacetimes.

Quantum cluster approach to the topological invariants in correlated Chern insulators

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2019
We detect the topological properties of Chern insulators with strong Coulomb interactions by use of cluster perturbation theory and variational cluster approach.

Chiral Engineered Biomaterials: New Frontiers in Cellular Fate Regulation for Regenerative Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Chiral engineered biomaterials can selectively influence cell behaviors in regenerative medicine. This review covers chiral engineered biomaterials in terms of their fabrication methods, cellular response mechanisms, and applications in directing stem cell differentiation and tissue function.

QCD, Symmetry Breaking and the Random Lattice [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Phys.Proc.Suppl.140:698-700,2005, 2006
According to the Nielsen-Ninomiya No-Go theorem, the doubling of fermions on the lattice cannot be suppressed in a chiral theory. Whereas Wilson and staggered fermions suppress doublers with explicit breaking of chiral symmetry, the random lattice does so by spontaneous chiral symmetry breaking even in the free theory.

Quark Mass Matrices in the A_4 Model

open access: yes, 2002
If the standard model of quark interactions is supplemented by a discrete A_4 symmetry (which may be relevant for the lepton sector), the spontaneous breaking of the electroweak gauge symmetry allows arbitrary quark masses, but all mixing angles are ...

Effects of Chemical Pressure on Superconductivity in Electrochemically Intercalated (TMA)yFe2(Se1−xSx)2 (TMA = Tetramethylammonium)

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Intercalation of a series of FeSe1−xSx host crystals with tetramethylammonium cations (TMA+) linearly scales the critical temperature Tc from 43 K down to 28 K with increasing sulfur incorporation. The chemical pressure induced by the partial substitution shows a weakening of the superconducting properties in both hosts and intercalates in a remarkably

The Spin--Symmetry of the Quark Model

open access: yes, 1996
Corrections to the exact heavy--quark symmetry results are expected to follow the $1/m_{Q}$ mass effect of the heavy--quark. We show, by an explicit calculation, that there is something other than the mass effect that suppresses the breaking of the spin ...

Making Photoresponsive Metal–Organic Frameworks an Effective Class of Heterogeneous Photocatalyst

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review summarizes photoresponsive MOFs for photocatalytic applications, focusing on their capacity to enhance light harvesting, charge transfer, and surface reactions. While existing studies provide foundational insights, emerging characterization techniques enable a deeper understanding of photoresponsive MOFs.

Explicit Electroweak symmetry breaking? [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 1994
We hypothesise that all electroweak symmetry breaking terms such as fermion masses and the W and Z gauge boson masses arise radiatively from just one explicit symmetry breaking term in the Lagrangian. Our hypothesis is motivated by the lack of experimental support and the lack of predictivity of the standard symmetry breaking scenario.

A note on Weyl invariance in gravity and the Wess–Zumino functional

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2016
It is shown that the explicit calculation of the Wess–Zumino functional pertaining to the breaking term of the Weyl symmetry for the Einstein–Hilbert action allows to restore the Weyl symmetry by introducing the extra dilaton field as Goldstone field ...
