Supercompliant Lattice Boosts n‐type AgSbTe2 Thermoelectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The supercompliant lattice design enables the first realization of n‐type electrical transport in AgSbTe2 by overcoming intrinsic electron‐killer defects and exceeding the doping limits imposed by the conventional Hume–Rothery rule. Accordingly, the best performance n‐type Ag0.8Na0.3Sb0.6Bi0.4Te2 sample achieves a low κ of 0.27 W·m−1·K−1 that ...

B−L as a gauged Peccei-Quinn symmetry

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2018
The gauged Peccei-Quinn (PQ) mechanism provides a simple prescription to embed the global PQ symmetry into a gauged U(1) symmetry. As it originates from the gauged PQ symmetry, the global PQ symmetry can be protected from explicit breaking by quantum ...

Supramolecular Zwitterionic Hydrogels for Information Encryption, Soft Electronics and Energy Storage at Icy Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A series of ACHPES‐based hydrogels are developed and realizing multiple functions like anti‐fouling properties, alkali‐induced color/fluorescence‐changing ability and strain sensing. Furthermore, the hydrogels show excellent anti‐freezing performance, whose optical, mechanical and electrical properties remain stable at −47.3 °C.

Background Fields and Gravity [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
Gravitational theories with fixed background fields break diffeomorphism invariance. This breaking can be spontaneous or explicit. A brief summary of the main consequences of these types of breaking is presented.

Inflaton as a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2023
In the realistic model of cosmic inflation the inflaton potential should be flat and stable under quantum corrections. It is natural to imagine that there is some symmetry behind and an idea of the inflaton as a Nambu-Goldstone boson of spontaneous ...

Enhanced PDMS Functionalization for Organ‐on‐a‐Chip Platforms Using Ozone and Sulfo‐SANPAH: A Simple Approach for Biomimetic Long‐Term Cell Cultures

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
The use of organ‐on‐a‐chip (OOC) microfluidic platforms is expanding in biomedical research. While this emerging technology is becoming increasingly accessible, the stability of long‐term functional cultures remains a critical challenge to address. This study presents a straightforward, one‐step method for the functionalization of polydimethylsiloxane ...

A Tale of Two Twin Higgses: Addressing Little Hierarchy in Natural 2HDM Framework [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2016
In original twin Higgs model, vacuum misalignment between electroweak and new physics scales is realized by adding explicit $\mathbb{Z}_2$ breaking term. Introducing additional twin Higgs could accommodate spontaneous $\mathbb{Z}_2$ breaking, which explains the origin of this misalignment. We introduce a class of two twin Higgs doublet models with most

Breaking of scaling symmetry by massless scalar on de Sitter

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2019
We study the response of a classical massless minimally coupled scalar to a static point scalar charge on de Sitter. By considering explicit solutions of the problem we conclude that – even though the dynamics formally admits dilatation (scaling ...

Gauge symmetry enhancement in Hamiltonian formalism

open access: yes, 2003
We study the Hamiltonian structure of the gauge symmetry enhancement in the enlarged CP(N) model coupled with U(2) Chern-Simons term, which contains a free parameter governing explicit symmetry breaking and symmetry enhancement.

Designing for Degradation: Transient Devices Enabled by (Nano)Cellulose

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Recent progress in transient devices enabled by (nano)cellulosic materials is reviewed. Transiency mechanisms, advantages of nanocelluloses, and a suite of applications are discussed. A circular thinking approach coupled with life cycle assessment is applied to critically revisit the potential, advantages, and challenges of nanocellulose‐enabled ...
