DARK ENERGY IN AN AXION MODEL WITH EXPLICIT Z(N) SYMMETRY BREAKING [PDF]
We point out that a well-known axion model with an explicit Z(N) symmetry breaking term predicts both dark energy and cold dark matter. We estimate the parameters of this model which fit the observed densities of the dark components of the universe. We find that the parameters do not conflict with any observations.

Electrically Tunable On‐Chip Topological Photonics with Integrated Carbon Nanotubes
This work demonstrates electrically tunable on‐chip topological THz devices by integrating 2D carbon nanotube (CNT) sheets with valley‐Hall photonic crystals, enabling broadband transmission modulation (71% modulation depth) and tunable narrowband filtering (0.54 GHz shift) through electrically induced thermal tuning. This advancement paves the way for

B−L as a gauged Peccei-Quinn symmetry
The gauged Peccei-Quinn (PQ) mechanism provides a simple prescription to embed the global PQ symmetry into a gauged U(1) symmetry. As it originates from the gauged PQ symmetry, the global PQ symmetry can be protected from explicit breaking by quantum ...

This work reveals a fundamental trade‐off between plasmonic and dielectric metasurfaces for molecular sensing. A clear performance crossover is identified: dielectric metasurfaces excel in air, while plasmonic metasurfaces dominate in lossy solvents. These results establish design rules for infrared metasurface sensors and enable optimized performance ...

High quality QCD axion via electric-magnetic duality
We propose a novel paradigm for the QCD axion with high-quality Peccei-Quinn (PQ) symmetry on the basis of electric-magnetic duality in the conformal window of a supersymmetric gauge theory.

Gd‐doped BFO (BGFO) exhibits a ∼2‐order reduction in leakage current owing to its lowest content of oxygen vacancies. This leads to a ∼2.5‐fold increase in remnant polarization. These improvements in BGFO effectively boost charge separation and transportation, resulting in the greatest incident photon‐to‐current efficiency of 12.9 ± 0.73% and a ∼1.5 ...

Flavor and electroweak symmetry breaking at the TeV scale
We present a unified picture of flavor and electroweak symmetry breaking at the TeV scale. Flavor and Higgs bosons arise as pseudo-Goldstone modes in a nonlinear sigma model.

Reconfigurable Metamirrors Based on Compliant Mechanisms
Providing the basis for numerous practical applications, the reconfigurability of metadevices is of great importance. Through the integration of controlled mechanical deformation with chiral meta‐atoms, a compliant mechanism based metamirror is demonstrated for active control over the polarization of electromagnetic waves.
