A description of within-family resource exchange networks in a Malawian village [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper we explore patterns of economic transfers between adults within household and family networks in a village in Malawi’s Rumphi district, using data from the 2006 round of the Malawi Longitudinal Study of Families and Health.

Domains of attraction for exponential families

open access: yesStochastic Processes and their Applications, 2003
Exponential families born by a single random variable are considered. The authors are interested in relative weak compactness of normalized exponential families. Approaching to the upper endpoint of the parameter range three cases of domain of attraction are described: normal, positive gamma, and negative gamma law.

Enhancing Maturation of Human Neuromuscular Organoids via Electrical Stimulation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A framework for on‐demand and non‐invasive exposure of human neuromuscular organoids (NMOs) to electrical stimuli is established to promote their maturation. The robustness and effectiveness of different stimulation regimes are evaluated via thorough characterization of organoid tissue structure and contraction capacity. Chronic electrical stimulation,

GHRHR Deficiency Enhances Retinal Ganglion Cell Survival and Visual Functions in Experimental Glaucoma by Inhibiting Ferroptosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Glaucoma, a major cause of blindness, involves retinal ganglion cell (RGC) degeneration. This study shows growth hormone‐releasing hormone receptor (GHRHR) deficiency preserves RGC survival and restores vision, unlike activation which only aids survival.

Applications in engineering and medicine with new generalized class of distribution: Properties, estimation methods, and simulation

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal
A novel distribution family named the Transmuted Odd Moment Exponential-G (TOME-G) family is introduced, derived from both the Odd Moment Exponential-G and Transmuted families.

Tunable Negative Thermal Expansion in Fe/Cr‐Substituted Nd2Co17 Compounds via Magnetoelastic Coupling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study achieves anisotropic thermal expansion tuning in Nd2(Co1‐xFex)17‐yCry compounds via a magnetoelastic strategy. Variable‐temperature synchrotron X‐ray diffraction reveals that increased Fe content induces switchable lattice responses. Compositional control reduces the volume expansion coefficient αV by 20% (x═0.7) and modulates TC (442–625 K),

On the Conjecture of Kochar and Korwar [PDF]

open access: yes
In this paper, we solve for some cases a conjecture by Kochar and Korwar (1996) in relation with the normalized spacings of the order statistics related to a sample of independent exponential random variables with different scale parameter.

Nonparametric Regression in Exponential Families [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Most results in nonparametric regression theory are developed only for the case of additive noise. In such a setting many smoothing techniques including wavelet thresholding methods have been developed and shown to be highly adaptive.

Moments, Exponential Sums, and Monodromy Groups

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma
We determine the geometric monodromy groups attached to various families, both one-parameter and multi-parameter, of exponential sums over finite fields, or, more precisely, the geometric monodromy groups of the $\ell $ -adic local systems on ...

An improved Bayes empirical Bayes estimator

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 2003
Consider an experiment yielding an observable random quantity X whose distribution Fθ depends on a parameter θ with θ being distributed according to some distribution G0.
