A note on ‘The exponentiated power Lomax distribution and its applications'

Quality and Reliability Engineering International, 2021
AbstractAbd El‐Monsef, Sweilam and Sabry [Quality and Reliability Engineering International, 2020, doi: 10.1002/qre.2780] proposed a four‐parameter exponentiated power Lomax distribution, derived its properties and illustrated three data applications. In this note, we show that several properties expressed in terms of infinite sums can be simplified to

A Generalization of the Univariate Slash by a Scale-Mixtured Exponential Power Distribution

Communications in Statistics Part B: Simulation and Computation, 2007
A generalization of the slash distribution is derived using the scale mixture of the exponential power distribution. The newly defined family of distributions provides a rich flexibility on the tail heaviness and yields alternative robust estimators of location and scale in non normal situations.

Exponentiated power Lindley power series class of distributions: Theory and applications

Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2017
We introduce a new four-parameter generalization of the exponentiated power Lindley (EPL) distribution, called the exponentiated power Lindley power series (EPLPS) distribution. The new distribution arises on a latent complementary risks scenario, in which the lifetime associated with a particular risk is not observable; rather, we observe only the ...

Power binomial exponential distribution: Modeling, simulation and application

Communications in Statistics - Simulation and Computation, 2017
The binomial exponential 2 (BE2) distribution was proposed by Bakouch et al. as a distribution of a random sum of independent exponential random variables, when the sample size has a zero truncated...

Exponential and power-law mass distributions in brittle fragmentation

Physical Review E, 2004
Generic arguments, a minimal numerical model, and fragmentation experiments with gypsum disk are used to investigate the fragment-size distribution that results from dynamic brittle fragmentation. Fragmentation is initiated by random nucleation of cracks due to material inhomogeneities, and its dynamics are pictured as a process of propagating cracks ...

On the Moments of the Alpha Power Transformed Generalized Exponential Distribution

Ozone: Science & Engineering, 2017
Based on an alpha power transformation method developed in Mahdavi and Kundu [Communications in Statistics–Theory and Methods, 46, 2017, doi: 10.1080/03610926.2015.1130839], Dey, Alzaatreh, Zhang and Kumar [Ozone: Science and Engineering, 39, 2017, 273–285] introduced a novel three-parameter distribution, studied its properties including estimation ...

Correction to “characterization of the exponential and power distributions”

Scandinavian Actuarial Journal, 1978
The purpose of this correction is to state precisely the class of distributions in which the exponential distribution is characterized and to prove certain amplifications.

On the distribution of the power function for the scale parameter of exponential families

Statistics in Medicine
The expected value of the standard power function of a test, computed with respect to a design prior distribution, is often used to evaluate the probability of success of an experiment. However, looking only at the expected value might be reductive. Instead, the whole probability distribution of the power function induced by the design prior can be ...
