Direct Measurement of the Singlet Lifetime and Photoexcitation Behavior of the Boron Vacancy Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Negatively charged boron vacancy defects in hexagonal boron nitride promise near‐surface quantum sensing, but their internal spin transition rates are only partly understood. This work directly measures the defect's singlet‐state lifetime, 15(3) ns, using a nanosecond rise‐time dual‐pulse photoluminescence‐recovery method, and shows that high laser ...

Surface‐Plasmon‐Coupled Blue InGaN/GaN Micro‐LEDs with Oxide–Metal–Oxide Capping Layer Compatible to Chip Fabrication Process

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A sidewall‐integrated oxide–metal–oxide architecture is demonstrated to overcome efficiency degradation in ultra‐small InGaN/GaN micro‐LEDs. Conformal Al2O3 passivation combined with plasmonic Ag nanoparticles enables localized surface plasmon–exciton coupling, converting surface‐related nonradiative losses into radiative emission.

Unmasking the Theta Method. [PDF]

open access: yes
The Theta method of forecasting performed particularly well in the M3-competition and is therefore of interest to forecast practitioners. The description of the method given by Assimakopoulos and Nikolopoulos (2000) involves several pages of algebraic ...

Data‐Efficient Electromagnetic Surrogate Solver Through Dissipative Relaxation Transfer Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
Dissipative relaxation transfer learning (DIRTL) enables data‐efficient training of electromagnetic surrogate solvers by pretraining data generated with artificial material loss before fine‐tuning on target lossless data. The framework suppresses resonant outlier effects during early training, allowing effective adaptation to high‐amplitude resonances ...

When Cubic is Not Isotropic: Phonon–Exciton Decoupling in CuInSnS4 Single Crystals

open access: yesAdvanced Optical Materials, EarlyView.
A cubic CuInSnS4 crystal does not fully play by cubic rules. While phonons follow the average iso‐tropic lattice symmetry, the disorder‐localized excitons break away, showing strong, and reproduci‐ble polarization‐dependent emission. This work shows how intrinsic cation disorder can turn a mac‐roscopically cubic material into a source of hidden ...

On exponential sums over smooth numbers.

open access: yesJournal für die reine und angewandte Mathematik (Crelles Journal), 1997
This paper is concerned with the theory and applications of exponential sums over smooth numbers. Despite the numerous applications stemming from suitable estimates for these exponential sums, thus far little attention has been paid to any but the simplest cases.
