Enhancing Forecasting Capability of Excel with User Defined Functions

We have developed seven user defined functions (UDF) related to forecasting. The first four functions are for exponential smoothing. These are simple exponential smoothing, Holt’s fit, Winter’s method and Holt-Winter method.

On the effect of fixed-bandwidth kernel density estimation on the exponential distribution

Kernel density estimation (KDE) is widely used as a nonparametric smoothing operator in statistics. In this work, we study fixed-bandwidth KDE as a convolution operator applied to an exponential baseline distribution with rate parameter (beta > 0).

Geometry‐Driven Whispering‐Gallery Modes in Self‐Assembled Phosphorescent Organic Microtubes

Micelles encapsulating tris(2‐phenylpyridine)iridium(III) self‐assemble into a hollow hexagonal microtube stabilized by a surface passivation layer. The hexagonal cross‐section confines circulating light along its facets, sustaining sharp whispering‐gallery resonances that guide photoluminescence emission under laser excitation.

Piezoresistivity Enhancement by Graphite Flake Alignment in Thin Composite Films for Dielectric Elastomer Switches

Advanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
This article presents dielectric elastomer switch (DES) materials, based on composite thin films. Alignment of graphite flakes due to their physical confinement within the thin films lead to much stronger piezoresistive responses than bulk composites, while their durability exceeds that of conventional liquid‐based DES materials.
