Towards Large-scale Functional Verification of Universal Quantum Circuits [PDF]

open access: yesElectronic Proceedings in Theoretical Computer Science, 2019
We introduce a framework for the formal specification and verification of quantum circuits based on the Feynman path integral. Our formalism, built around exponential sums of polynomial functions, provides a structured and natural way of specifying ...

Stability Analysis of Discrete-Time Stochastic Delay Systems with Impulses

open access: yesMathematics, 2021
This paper is concerned with stability analysis of discrete-time stochastic delay systems with impulses. By using the sums average value of the time-varying coefficients and the average impulsive interval, two sufficient criteria for exponential ...

Exponential Sums Related to Maass Forms [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
We estimate short exponential sums weighted by the Fourier coefficients of a Maass form. This requires working out a certain transformation formula for non-linear exponential sums, which is of independent interest.

Exponential sums with automatic sequences

open access: yes, 2017
We show that automatic sequences are asymptotically orthogonal to periodic exponentials of type $e_q(f(n))$, where $f$ is a rational fraction, in the P\'olya-Vinogradov range.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

Bounds of triple exponential sums with mixed exponential and linear terms

open access: yes, 2018
We establish bounds of triple exponential sums with mixed exponential and linear function. The method we use is by Shparlinski together with a bound of additive energy from Roche-Newton, Rudnev and Shkredov.Comment: Corrected a ...

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

Randomly stopped sums with exponential-type distributions

open access: yesNonlinear Analysis, 2017
Assume that {ξ1, ξ2, …} are independent and possibly nonidentically distributed random variables. Suppose that η is a nonnegative, nondegenerate at zero and integer-valued random variable, which is independent of {ξ1, ξ2, …}.
