Interaction vesicles as emerging mediators of host‐pathogen molecular crosstalk and their implications for infection dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Interaction extracellular vesicles (iEVs) are hybrid vesicles formed through host‐pathogen communication. They facilitate immune evasion, transfer pathogens' molecules, increase host cell uptake, and enhance virulence. This Perspective article illustrates the multifunctional roles of iEVs and highlights their emerging relevance in infection dynamics ...

Fibonacci Graphs and their Expressions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2013
The paper investigates relationship between algebraic expressions and graphs. We consider a digraph called a Fibonacci graph which gives a generic example of non-series-parallel graphs. Our intention in this paper is to simplify the expressions of Fibonacci graphs and eventually find their shortest representations.

miRNA and mRNA expression analysis reveals potential sex-biased miRNA expression

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
Recent studies suggest that mRNAs may be differentially expressed between males and females. This study aimed to perform expression analysis of mRNA and its main regulatory molecule, microRNA (miRNA), to discuss the potential sex-specific expression ...

STAT3 expression is reduced in cardiac pericytes in HFpEF and its loss reduces cellular adhesion and induces pericyte senescence

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) accounts for half of the heart failure cases. It is characterised by microvascular dysfunction, associated with reduced pericyte coverage and diminished STAT3 expression in pericytes. Loss of STAT3 impairs pericyte adhesion, promotes senescence, and activates a pro‐fibrotic gene program.

Forkable Regular Expressions [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2015
We consider forkable regular expressions, which enrich regular expressions with a fork operator, to establish a formal basis for static and dynamic analysis of the communication behavior of concurrent programs. We define a novel compositional semantics for forkable expressions, establish their fundamental properties, and define derivatives for them as ...

Empowering Multi-Cohort Gene Expression Analysis to Increase Reproducibility

open access: yesbioRxiv, 2016
A major contributor to the scientific reproducibility crisis has been that the results from homogeneous, single-center studies do not generalize to heterogeneous, real world populations.

Cytoplasmic delivery of antibodies through grafting a functional single complementarity‐determining region loop

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We achieved cytoplasmic delivery of non‐cell‐penetrating IgGs by grafting a single functional complementarity‐determining region 1 (CDR1) from the light chain variable region (VL) of the cell‐internalizable 3D8 antibody. The engineered IgG acquired cell‐penetrating ability while maintaining antigen affinity, highlighting CDR1 grafting as a promising ...

Regular expressions over countable words [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
We investigate the expressive power of regular expressions for languages of countable words and establish their expressive equivalence with logical and algebraic characterizations. Our goal is to extend the classical theory of regular languages - defined over finite words and characterized by automata, monadic second-order logic, and regular ...
