Optical correlator with extended depth of field

Optics Communications, 1981
Abstract Preprocessing with a Fabry-Perot etalon in the image plane of an optical correlator is used to extend the depth of field of the instrument without reducing its selectivity. Experimental results are compared with the output of a classical correlator as well as with theory.

Experimental realization of an imaging system with an extended depth of field

Applied Optics, 2005
We describe the experimental realization of an all-optical imaging system with an extended depth of field (DOF). The core of the system is a phase mask consisting of 16 Fresnel lenses (FLs) that are spatially multiplexed and mutually exclusive. Because each FL, in tandem with the primary lens, is designed to produce a sharp image for a specific object ...

Extended Depth-of-Field Intraocular Lenses

2019
Extended depth-of-focus (EDOF) optical profiles are a new optical design that is currently considered as an attractive alternative to accommodative and multifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs). Currently several optical principles might be utilized to indicate the physical mechanism of light bundling and are applied to EDOF IOLs—diffractive and/or ...

Multi-focus image fusion for extended depth of field

Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Internet Multimedia Computing and Service, 2018
In this paper, we address the extended depth of field method, which appropriately applicable to a set of stack images. The proposed fusion algorithm improved a conventional discrete wavelet transform using spatial frequency and sum-modified-Laplacian.

Utilizing Optical Aberrations for Extended-Depth-of-Field Panoramas

2013
Optical aberrations in off-the-shelf photographic lenses are commonly treated as unwanted artifacts that degrade image quality. In this paper we argue that such aberrations can be useful, as they often produce point-spread functions (PSFs) that have greater frequency-preserving abilities in the presence of defocus compared to an ideal thin lens ...
