Electrochemical Modeling and Degradation Analysis of Lithium‐Ion Batteries in High Temperature Environments

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 1, January 2026.
A multi‐side‐reaction electrochemical model is developed to predict lithium‐ion battery degradation under high temperatures, incorporating SEI growth, electrode cracking, and electrolyte oxidation. The model shows strong agreement with experimental results, enabling accurate cycle life prediction and identification of dominant aging mechanisms ...

A New Approach for Estimation of Lithium‐Ion Battery State of Charge and Health Using Mixed H∞/H2 Control With Sliding Mode Observer

open access: yesBattery Energy, Volume 5, Issue 1, January 2026.
The rise of renewable energy sources is accompanied with a depletion of raw materials used in batteries. The project summarized in this paper presents a system aiming to estimate the SOC and SOH of Lithium‐Ion Battery. This is achieved Using Mixed H∞/H2 Control with Sliding Mode Observer.

Insights into the Structure and Dynamics of Water at Co3O4${\rm Co}_3{\rm O}_4$(001) Using a High‐Dimensional Neural Network Potential

open access: yesChemCatChem, Volume 18, Issue 1, 15 January 2026.
A high‐dimensional neural network potential trained on density functional theory data enables large‐scale molecular dynamics simulations of Co3O4(001)‐water interfaces. The A and B terminations display distinct hydration structures, hydroxylation, and hydrogen‐bond ordering. The B‐terminated surface stabilizes a compact, quasi‐epitaxial hydration layer

Lossless Information‐Based Dimensionality Reduction of Comprehensive Features With a Deep Variational Autoencoder Enables Early‐Life Prediction of Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesCarbon Neutralization, Volume 5, Issue 1, January 2026.
This paper presents a dimensionality reduction approach that minimizes feature redundancy while retaining essential information, simplifying subsequent model training. Starting with a complete feature set to capture aging characteristics, we reduced it to 10 key features, resulting in a maximum reconstruction mean squared error (MSE) of 0.02139.

Infants Recognized Other‐Race Faces When Learning Them With Incidental Emotional Sounds

open access: yesDevelopmental Psychobiology, Volume 68, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Infant face recognition shows plasticity, with recent evidence indicating enhancement by the presence of emotional facial expressions. The mechanisms and domain‐generality of this effect remain largely unknown. This study tested whether auditory emotional cues (vocalizations) facilitated infants' recognition of other‐race faces, a perceptual ...
