The Theoretical Flow Ripple of an External Gear Pump

Fluid Power Systems and Technology, 2002
In this paper, the theoretical flow ripple of an external gear pump is studied for pumps of similar size using different numbers of teeth on the driving and driven gears. In this work, the flow ripple equation is derived based upon the flow of incompressible fluid across the changing boundaries of a control volume.

External gear pumps for accurate and reliable metering duties

World Pumps, 2006
Magnetically coupled external gear pumps can accurately and reliably meter sodium hypochlorite and other water and wastewater treatment chemicals. Gregory Wood P.E., sales and marketing manager at Tuthill Pump Group, Concord, California, USA, explains how they work and why they offer many advantages as an effective metering technology.

Research and Optimization of Designs of External Gear Pumps

Material and Mechanical Engineering Technology
Gear hydraulic machines are a type of volumetric hydraulic machines that are widely used in various industries. Their main purpose is to convert mechanical rotational energy into hydraulic energy (pumps) or vice versa (hydraulic motors). The performance of gear hydraulic machines depends on tribological properties such as hardness, wear

Modelling and Simulating Hydraulically Balanced External Gear Pumps

2002
The paper presents some developments of a research activity regarding hydraulically balanced external gear pumps.Numerical models are introduced in order to study gears radial equilibrium and axial bearing blocks balance. A numericalapproach useful for determining the eccentric positions assumed by gears inside the pump casing and to assess the ...

Pressure balancing in external gear pumps and motors

1997
The paper relates on a numerical method for designing balancing bearing block areas for external gear pumps and motors. At first, a way is presented for obtaining pressure distribution inside spaces between teeth, bearing blocks and casing; the procedure, based on integration of the continuity equation for sealed spaces, permits also the evaluation of ...

Pressure phenomena in dynamic analysis of external gear pumps

2006
A previous non-linear lumped kinetoelastodynamic model for the study of the dynamic behaviour of external gear pumps has been further developed in order to improve the accuracy of the simulation results. In particular, this paper deals with the modelling and analysis of the phenomena bound to the pressure distribution around the gears, since they have ...
