Acoustical Control of External Gear Pumps by Intensity Measuring Techniques

Noise Control Engineering Journal, 1990
The increasing use of external gear pumps in hydraulic applications makes noise a critical problem. In this viw it is very importanto to make available measurement and analysis techniques able to evaluate each design option in terms of cost to benefit ratio, enhancing the product optimization.

Research and Optimization of Designs of External Gear Pumps

Material and Mechanical Engineering Technology
Gear hydraulic machines are a type of volumetric hydraulic machines that are widely used in various industries. Their main purpose is to convert mechanical rotational energy into hydraulic energy (pumps) or vice versa (hydraulic motors). The performance of gear hydraulic machines depends on tribological properties such as hardness, wear

Effect of Nanoscale Additives on External Gear Pump Performance

Volume 1: Symposia, Parts A, B and C, 2009
In this study, the effect of ultrafine graphite and multi-walled carbon nanotube (CNT) additives on the performance of an external gear pump was investigated. Colloidal suspensions of each additive were created in ethanol with concentrations varying from 200 ppm to 1550 ppm, low enough that there was no significant change in the viscosity of the ...

Numerical Analysis of External Gear Pumps Including Cavitation

Journal of Fluids Engineering, 2012
Hydraulic machines are faced with increasingly severe performance requirements. The need to design smaller and more powerful machines rotating at higher speeds in order to provide increasing efficiencies has to face a major limitation: cavitation. The problem is inherently three-dimensional, due to the axial clearances, the relief and circumferential ...

The Flow Rate Characteristics of External Gear Pump for EHPS

2013 4th International Conference on Intelligent Systems, Modelling and Simulation, 2013
EHPS(Electro-Hydraulic Power Steering) system generates the steering operation force from the electric motor connected directly to the oil pump. When developing the steering system, the final specification of steering system is determined through the field test and the tuning process of the several times.

New Methods of Reducing Noise in External Gear Pumps

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1980
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The noise from external gear pumps has been significantly reduced by a new design which consists of two sets of gears, half the width of a standard gear, and offset about 1/2 pitch. The new pump makes use of a housing which is externally basically the same as a standard pump.

An Investigation of External Gear Pump Efficiency and Stribeck Values

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2012
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">This paper presents an experimental study of external gear pump efficiency based upon an analysis of the Stribeck values. The volumetric, mechanical, and overall efficiencies of a variety of external gear pumps were measured under steady state conditions.

Modelling and Simulation of External Gear Pumps and Motors

2008
In this paper a lumped parameter model for the numerical simulation of the dynamic behaviour of external gear pumps and motors is presented. The model is developed in AMESimĀ® environment, combining the use of AMESimĀ® libraries of components and a self-made library developed in C++ code.
