Vibration and dynamic loads in external gear pumps

Archives of Civil and Mechanical Engineering, 2015
This paper presents the model for simulation of vibration and dynamic loads in external gear pumps. The calculation has been carried out in Matlab/Simulink program. The vibrations of gears are excited due to the variable pressure forces and variable stiffness of the gearing.

Geometric displacement optimization of external helical gear pumps

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part C: Journal of Mechanical Engineering Science, 2009
An approach to geometric displacement optimization of external helical gear pumps is presented. In addition, relations of pump flow property and its influence factors are also investigated. During that, only the pumps with transverse contact ratios of not less than one are discussed.

Acoustical Control of External Gear Pumps by Intensity Measuring Techniques

Noise Control Engineering Journal, 1990
The increasing use of external gear pumps in hydraulic applications makes noise a critical problem. In this viw it is very importanto to make available measurement and analysis techniques able to evaluate each design option in terms of cost to benefit ratio, enhancing the product optimization.

The Optimal Design in External Gear Pumps and Motors

IEEE/ASME Transactions on Mechatronics, 2011
To improve the system performance of hydraulically assisted mechatronic systems, the research investigates the instantaneous pressure of the meshing action in the external gear pumps and motors. The undesired large pressure overshoots or spikes could be excited by virtue of the sudden volumetric change of meshing pockets.

NOISE REDUCTION IN EXTERNAL GEAR PUMP

PAHTEI-Procedings of Azerbaijan High Technical Educational Institutions
External gear pumps are widely employed in various industrial applications due to their simplicity, reliability, and efficiency. However, they often generate considerable noise, which can be a significant concern in noise-sensitive environments.

External Gear Pump Volumetric Efficiency: Numerical and Experimental Analysis

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2009
<div class="htmlview paragraph">External gear pumps and motors are robust and low cost positive displacement machines and are widely used in industrial and mobile applications. Nowadays however, optimal global efficiency represents a more crucial aspect to be considered when designing a hydraulic machine.

Effect of Nanoscale Additives on External Gear Pump Performance

Volume 1: Symposia, Parts A, B and C, 2009
In this study, the effect of ultrafine graphite and multi-walled carbon nanotube (CNT) additives on the performance of an external gear pump was investigated. Colloidal suspensions of each additive were created in ethanol with concentrations varying from 200 ppm to 1550 ppm, low enough that there was no significant change in the viscosity of the ...

New Methods of Reducing Noise in External Gear Pumps

SAE Technical Paper Series, 1980
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The noise from external gear pumps has been significantly reduced by a new design which consists of two sets of gears, half the width of a standard gear, and offset about 1/2 pitch. The new pump makes use of a housing which is externally basically the same as a standard pump.

The Flow Pulsation Analysis of an External Gear Pump

Advanced Materials Research, 2011
In this paper, the theoretical flow ripple of an external gear pump is studied for pumps of similar size using different numbers of teeth on the driving and driven gears. External gear pumps with three different types of tooth profiles are studied. Nondimensional flowrates and fluctuation coefficients of gear pumps are discussed.

Modeling of high-pressure external gear pump

2011
Hydraulic systems provide good dynamic behaviour and therefore are one of the main design concept for industrial applications, such as the example of drives for machine tools. The most important part of the hydraulic system is the pump. The main task of the pump is the converting mechanical energy from the prime mover into hydraulic energy, or the flow
