Feasibility study of a new concept of solar external receiver: Variable velocity receiver [PDF]
The deployment of new solar power tower plants mainly depends on becoming cost-competitive with traditional forms of electricity generation. The solar field represents around 40% of the solar power tower investment cost, thus the cost reduction of such subsystems is mandatory to achieve that goal.

Performance assessment of a secondary concentrator for solar tower external receivers [PDF]
In the EU-project RAISELIFE, a secondary concentrator for Solar Tower systems has been developed conceptually, which is discussed techno-economically herein. Based on a detailed three-level simulation methodology (optical assessment of radiation distribution on receiver surfaces, thermal FEM-simulation of receiver efficiency and transient system ...

An external calibration system for DBF receiver arrays at Ka-band
In this thesis an online calibration procedure with on-board probes for DBF receiver systems is developed. The so-called external concept is developed not only for calibration of only channel deviations but also extended for joint calibration of channel deviations and mutual coupling.

Thermal Analysis of a Solar External Receiver Tube with a Novel Component of Guide Vanes
The heat transfer performance of a solar external receiver tube with guide vanes was numerically studied under non-uniform heat flux conditions. Models of the smooth tube and the tube with guide vanes were built.

Variable velocity in solar external receivers [PDF]
One of the major problems in solar external receivers is tube overheating, which accelerates the risk of receiver failure. It can be solved implementing receivers with high number of panels. However, it exponentially increases the pressure drop in the receiver and the parasitic power consumption of the Solar Power Tower (SPT), reducing the global ...

Background: Bone sarcomas often present late with advanced stage at diagnosis and an according, varying short-term survival. In 2016, Nandra et al. generated a Bayesian belief network model for 1-year survival in patients with bone sarcomas.
