PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.

Is the proton radius puzzle evidence of extra dimensions? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The proton charge radius inferred from muonic hydrogen spectroscopy is not compatible with the previous value given by CODATA-2010, which, on its turn, essentially relies on measurements of the electron–proton interaction.

Large hierarchy from extra dimensions [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2000
We argue that the familiar gauge hierarchy between the fundamental Planck scale M_{Pl} and the electroweak scale M_{W}, can be naturally explained in higher dimensional theories with relatively large radii (R_c > 1/M_{Pl}) extra dimensions. In particular, we show that it is possible that the electroweak Higgs mass at high energies is of the order of

Recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming and confer resistance to targeted therapies

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that the majority of the 18 analyzed recurrent cancer‐associated ERBB4 mutations are transforming. The most potent mutations are activating, co‐operate with other ERBB receptors, and are sensitive to pan‐ERBB inhibitors. Activating ERBB4 mutations also promote therapy resistance in EGFR‐mutant lung cancer.

Hidden symmetries from extra dimensions

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics
In Kaluza-Klein compactifications, some symmetries of the higher dimensional theory are preserved in lower dimensions, others are broken, and occasionally, there are symmetry enhancements.

Reconsidering extra time-like dimensions

open access: yes, 2006
In this study we reconsider the phenomenological problems related to tachyonic modes in the context of extra time-like dimensions. First we reconsider a lower bound on the size of extra time-like dimensions.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Proof of dispersion relations for the amplitude in theories with a compactified space dimension

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2020
The analyticity properties of the scattering amplitude in the nonforward direction are investigated for a field theory in the manifold R 3,1 ⨂ S 1.

Combining antibody conjugates with cytotoxic and immune‐stimulating payloads maximizes anti‐cancer activity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Methods to improve antibody–drug conjugate (ADC) treatment durability in cancer therapy are needed. We utilized ADCs and immune‐stimulating antibody conjugates (ISACs), which are made from two non‐competitive antibodies, to enhance the entry of toxic payloads into cancer cells and deliver immunostimulatory agents into immune cells.
