Extracellular Enzyme Activity in Eutrophic and Polyhumic Lakes
1991For many years, the synthesis, secretion, and activity of extracellular enzymes of different organisms have been intensively studied by workers in many different disciplines, such as applied microbiology, biotechnology, biochemistry, and medicine (Pollock, 1962; Priest, 1977; 1984; Kreutzberg et al., 1986; Chaloupka and Krumphanzl, 1987).

Problems with toluene and the determination of extracellular enzyme activity in soils
Soil Biology and Biochemistry, 1979Abstract Six of 7 fungi imperfecti, 7 of 13 basidiomycetes, and 6 of 14 bacteria tested were able to grow with 0.1 or 0.05% toluene as a sole source of carbon indicating an invalid use of toluene as a biostatic agent for analysis of extracellular enzymes in soil.

Avirulence and Reduced Extracellular Enzyme Activity in Geotrichum candidum
Botanical Gazette, 1983Mutagenized avirulent mutants (AV) of Geotrichum candidum and mutants of reduced virulence had lower polygalacturonase (PG), cellulase (Cx), and phosphatidase (PT) activity values than the virulent wild-type strain (G.c. met-1). Some of the AV mutants yielded reduced virulence revertants after mutagenesis. These revertants showed a substantial increase

EXTRACELLULAR LIPOLYTIC ENZYME ACTIVITY OF A NEWLY ISOLATEDDEBARYOMYCES HANSENII
Preparative Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2009A strain isolated from waste of a milk products plant and exhibited extracellular lipolytic activity was identified as Debaryomyces hansenii by 5.8S rRNA and 28S rRNA gene sequence analyses. Lipolytic activity was assayed spectrophotometrically by using p-nitrophenylpalmitate.

Research in Microbiology, 1989
A bacteriolytic enzyme excreted by Pseudomonas aeruginosa Paks I was purified: samples were found to be homogeneous by gel filtration chromatography, ion exchange chromatography using CM-cellulose, immunoelectrophoresis, PAGE and SDS-PAGE. The molecular weight of the lytic enzyme was estimated to be 15,000-19,000. The enzyme was active on Gram-positive

Postfire extracellular enzyme activity in a temperate montane forest
Soil Science Society of America JournalAbstract Wildfire is a disturbance expected to increase in frequency and severity, changes that may impact carbon (C) dynamics in the soil ecosystem. Fire changes the types of C sources available to soil microbes, increasing pyrogenic C and coarse downed wood, and if there is substantial tree mortality, decreasing C from root exudates
