Extractive Fermentation of Clavulanic Acid by Streptomyces DAUFPE 3060 Using Aqueous Two-Phase System

open access: yes, 2011
The influence of four variables, specifically PEG molar mass (400, 1,000, and 8,000 g/mol), concentrations of PEG and phosphate salts (15, 20, and 25% for both), and agitation intensity (110, 150, and 200 rpm), on clavulanic acid (CA) extraction by ...

Canagliflozin Alleviates Diabetic Glomerular Endothelial Injury via Melibiose in a Microbiota‐Dependent Manner

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Canagliflozin treatment reshapes the gut microbiota in DKD and elevates levels of melibiose, a metabolite derived from Roseburia intestinalis. Melibiose directly binds to and enhances the enzymatic activity of glyoxalase 1, leading to decreased methylglyoxal accumulation.

Response of Clostridium pasteurianum ATCC 6013 to the presence of solvents for extractive butanol fermentation

open access: yes, 2013
Butanol is of particular interest as a renewable biofuel. This research investigated the butanol extraction by converting purified glycerol into butanol using C. pasteurianum.

Cross Kingdom Metabolic Engineering Paradigm Elevating Sustainable Protein Production

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Confronting the dual crisis of escalating global protein demand and unsustainable agriculture necessitates transformative solutions. Here, we pioneer evolutionary insights from maize nitrogen optimization via asparagine synthetase (ASNS) to rewire metabolism in Pichia pastoris.

Nanocellulose Alleviates Intrahepatic Cholestasis of Pregnancy via Gut Microbiota‐Mediated Bile Acid Homeostasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Nanocellulose, derived from microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) through sulfuric acid hydrolysis or mechanical grinding to produce CNC or CNF, was tested in a rat ICP model. Particularly, CNF improved gut microbiota composition, reduced secondary bile acid metabolism, and restored bile acid homeostasis through modulation of the gut–liver axis.

CD4+ Tregs Drive Post‐Ischemic Sprouting Angiogenesis via Endothelial YY1/MAML1 Reactivation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Microvascular complications of diabetes are chronic diseases of small vessels. We previously found that CD4+ regulatory T‐cells (Tregs) are markedly reduced in type 2 diabetes (T2D) after ischemic injury in both mice and humans, and that Treg deficiency in immunodeficient mice impairs vascular regeneration.
