Plasmablastic extramedullary plasmacytoma

open access: yesIndian Journal of Pathology and Microbiology, 2012
Extramedullary plasmactyoma is the solitary, soft tissue form of plasma cell neoplasm but lack the defining features of medullary or multiple myeloma. The diagnosis is difficult to make in routine practice setting due to the morphological and immunohistochemical overlap with plasmablastic lymphoma.

Extramedullary hematopoiesis in cancer

open access: yesExperimental & Molecular Medicine
AbstractHematopoiesis can occur outside of the bone marrow during inflammatory stress to increase the production of primarily myeloid cells at extramedullary sites; this process is known as extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH). As observed in a broad range of hematologic and nonhematologic diseases, EMH is now recognized for its important contributions ...

Extramedullary haematopoiesis in the kidney [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Kidney Journal, 2012
Extramedullary haematopoiesis (EMH) is the development of haematopoietic tissue outside the bone marrow and it most often occurs in the liver and spleen. Renal EMH is quite rare and there are very few case reports concerning the kidney. We describe two cases of 'renal histologically documented EMH' and, in particular, in the second of these two, the ...
