Engraftment of sheep splenic lymphocytes into NBSGW mice and application in Brucella infection

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
A sheep splenocyte‐reconstituted mouse model (Sh‐Spl mice) was established via intravenous injection of sheep splenic lymphocytes into immunodeficient mice to evaluate Brucella infection. Abstract Background The development of immune reconstituted xenograft mouse models has addressed the limitations imposed by interspecies immunological differences in ...

Outcome of paraosseous extra-medullary disease in newly diagnosed multiple myeloma patients treated with new drugs

open access: yesHaematologica, 2020
Extramedullary disease is relatively frequent in multiple myeloma, but our knowledge on the subject is limited and mainly relies on small case series or single center experiences. Little is known regarding the role of new drugs in this setting.

Extramedullary endobronchial plasmacytoma [PDF]

open access: yesBMJ Case Reports, 2013
A 58-year-old man with a history of multiple myeloma was admitted to the hospital with progressive dyspnoea and hypoxemia. Chest examination revealed decreased breath sounds bilaterally. Blood examination revealed anaemia. Chest x-ray and chest CT scan revealed multiple pulmonary nodules, segmental atelectasis and central bronchial narrowing.

Kidney Hematopoietic Stem and Progenitor Cells Contribute to Myeloid Development and Pathology in Lupus Nephritis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective The hematopoietic system maintains homeostasis by balancing myeloid and lymphoid cell production in the bone marrow (BM). In response to increased hematopoietic demand, extramedullary hematopoiesis (EMH) may occur in nonlymphoid organs. We investigated the role of EMH and kidney‐resident hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells (HSPCs) in ...

Extramedullary plasmacytoma of the lung [PDF]

open access: yesCancer, 1985
Three patients with extramedullary plasmacytoma of the lung are described, one of whom also had cervical lymph node metastasis, with the production of an M-protein. The production of M-protein normalized after successful treatment of the localized disease.

Role of selenium in the pathophysiology of cardiorenal anaemia syndrome

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, Volume 12, Issue 2, Page 770-780, April 2025.
Abstract Chronic kidney disease (CKD) and cardiovascular disease (CVD) have multiple bidirectional mechanisms, and anaemia is one of the critical factors that are associated with the progression of the two disorders [referred to as cardiorenal anaemia syndrome (CRAS)].

Transcriptomic signatures reveal systemic adaptations and immune modulation in response to training and competitive racing in horses

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background The molecular mechanisms underlying adaptation to physical exertion and racing stress in horses remain incompletely understood. Peripheral blood transcriptomics offers a minimally invasive method to monitor systemic responses to exercise and identify biomarkers of adaptation or overload. Objectives To evaluate transcriptomic changes
