The extremal solution for the fractional Laplacian [PDF]

open access: yesCalculus of Variations and Partial Differential Equations, 2013
We study the extremal solution for the problem $(-Δ)^s u=λf(u)$ in $Ω$, $u\equiv0$ in $\R^n\setminusΩ$, where $λ>0$ is a parameter and $s\in(0,1)$. We extend some well known results for the extremal solution when the operator is the Laplacian to this nonlocal case.

Conformal bootstrap deformations

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
We explore the space of extremal functionals in the conformal bootstrap. By recasting the bootstrap problem as a set of non-linear equations parameterized by the CFT data, we find an efficient algorithm for converging to the extremal solution ...

Fixed-time and state-dependent time discontinuities in the theory of Stieltjes differential equations

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Qualitative Theory of Differential Equations, 2022
In the present paper, we are concerned with a very general problem, namely the Stieltjes differential Cauchy problem involving state-dependent discontinuities.

Nonlocal Problems for Hilfer Fractional q-Difference Equations

open access: yesFractal and Fractional, 2023
In the paper, we investigate a kind of Hilfer fractional q-difference equations with nonlocal condition. Firstly, the existence and uniqueness results of solutions are obtained by using topological degree theory and Banach fixed point theorem ...

On the Existence and Applicability of Extremal Principles in the Theory of Irreversible Processes: A Critical Review

open access: yesEnergies, 2022
A brief review of the development of ideas on extremal principles in the theory of heat and mass transfer processes (including those in reacting media) is given. The extremal principles of non-equilibrium thermodynamics are critically examined.

An Extremal Graph Problem with a Transcendental Solution [PDF]

open access: yesCombinatorics, Probability and Computing, 2018
We prove that the number of multigraphs with vertex set {1, . . .,n} such that every four vertices span at most nine edges isan2+o(n2)whereais transcendental (assuming Schanuel's conjecture from number theory). This is an easy consequence of the solution to a related problem about maximizing the product of the edge multiplicities in certain multigraphs,

Observations on holographic aspects of four-dimensional asymptotically flat N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 2 black holes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2022
In this note, we explore holographic attributes of four-dimensional near-extremal Reissner-Nordstrom black hole solutions in ungauged N $$ \mathcal{N} $$ = 2 supergravity theories at the two-derivative level by recasting them as a specific first-order ...

Flows of rotating extremal attractor black holes

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2023
We investigate the attractor mechanism of five-dimensional extremal rotating black holes in Einstein gravity minimally coupled with a multiplet complex scalar.

De-singularizing the extremal GMGHS black hole via higher derivatives corrections

open access: yesPhysics Letters B, 2021
The Gibbons-Maeda-Garfinkle-Horowitz-Strominger (GMGHS) black hole is an influential solution of the low energy heterotic string theory. As it is well known, it presents a singular extremal limit.

Squashed black holes at large D

open access: yesJournal of High Energy Physics, 2021
Using the large D effective theory approach, we construct a static solution of non-extremal and squashed black holes with/without an electric charge, which describes a spherical black hole in a Kaluza-Klein spacetime with a compactified dimension.
