Hepatitis C Virus Induces Regulatory T Cells by Naturally Occurring Viral Variants to Suppress T Cell Responses

open access: yesClinical and Developmental Immunology, 2011
Regulatory T cell markers are increased in chronically infected individuals with the hepatitis C virus (HCV), but to date, the induction and maintenance of Tregs in HCV infection has not been clearly defined.

Digging Deep: Dynamic Programming for Optimal Routing With Double‐Deep Autonomous Mobile Robot Picking

open access: yesNetworks, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Multi‐tote autonomous mobile robots (MT‐AMRs) are an emerging warehousing technology in which a mobile drive unit carries a lift‐based storage‐and‐retrieval mechanism with an extendable fork and a multi‐tote onboard buffer. On autonomous picking tours, an MT‐AMR visits storage locations, extracts product totes from racks, stores them in its ...

Synthesis of Poly(Itaconate)s With High Monomer Conversion Applying Emulsion Polymerization

open access: yesJournal of Polymer Science, Volume 63, Issue 6, Page 1284-1296, 15 March 2025.
Itaconic acid and its derivatives are a promising and bio‐based substitute for oil‐based polymers such as acrylates. In this study, the optimization of polymerization of itaconic acid esters is described by applying emulsion polymerization leading to high reaction conversions and low residual monomer contents. ABSTRACT Itaconic acid and its derivatives

Soil health assessment using buried cotton underpants with the help of 1000 citizen scientists

open access: yesPLANTS, PEOPLE, PLANET, EarlyView.
Soil is a vital resource for life on Earth. Although many soils are degraded, societal awareness of soil‐related issues is limited. To highlight soil as a key resource and fascinating study system, we initiated a citizen science project together with 1000 participants investigating soil health across Switzerland using buried cotton underpants.

Surface‐Functionalized Poly(2‐Oxazoline)‐Based Grids Produced by Two‐Photon Polymerization as 3D‐Structured Hydrogels Promoting Cell Adhesion

open access: yesSmall, EarlyView.
Sidechain‐functionalized poly(2‐oxazoline) cross‐linkers were utilized to print grids with varying mesh sizes by two‐photon polymerization (2PP grids). The amino‐functionalized hydrogels were subsequently used to covalently couple the RGD‐containing peptide sequence GCWRGDSP (RGD) to the amino groups in the side chains. In cell adhesion tests with L929

Multiscale Coupling of Phase Transition and Urban Flow in Two‐Phase Chlorine Dispersion in Street Canyons

open access: yesSafety Science and Technology, EarlyView.
A multiscale CFD framework reveals that two‐phase effects fundamentally alter hazardous gas dispersion in urban street canyons. Droplet evaporation, vortex‐driven transport, and ventilation jointly control hazard evolution, with wind speed dominating dispersion while temperature plays a secondary role.

Understanding STEM Coursetaking Among English Learner Subgroups: Longitudinal Evidence From Four State Policy Contexts

open access: yesTESOL Quarterly, EarlyView.
Abstract Although a substantial body of research documents the problem of course tracking for students classified as English learners (ELs), very little work has addressed the notably different challenges that subgroups of ELs face across different state policy contexts.
