Beam electrons as a source of Hα flare ribbons [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The observations of solar flare onsets show rapid increase of hard and soft X-rays, ultra-violet emission with large Doppler blue shifts associated with plasma upflows, and Hα hydrogen emission with red shifts up to 1–4 Å.

BGN/MDK Axis in the Melanoma Tumor Microenvironment Strengthens Tumor Malignancy by Modulating Cancer Cells and Cancer‐Associated Fibroblasts Crosstalk

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reveals that m6A regulators cooperatively upregulate BGN in melanoma, promoting malignancy. Within the tumor microenvironment, CAFs show highest BGN expression. The BGN/MDK axis mediates cancer‐stroma crosstalk, driving normal fibroblast (NF) activation and enhancing the pro‐tumor effect of CAFs, highlighting a promising therapeutic target ...

Did BICEP2 see vector modes? First B-mode constraints on cosmic defects

open access: yes, 2014
Scaling networks of cosmic defects, such as strings and textures, actively generate scalar, vector and tensor metric perturbations throughout the history of the universe. In particular, {\em vector} modes sourced by defects are an efficient source of the

Context‐Dependent Role of GDF15: GDF15+ Tumor‐Associated Macrophages Suppress OSCC Progression by Enhancing Phagocytosis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies GDF15+ TAMs as a cell subset mediating tumor regression after immunotherapy. Macrophage‐intrinsic GDF15 enhances phagocytosis and antigen cross‐presentation to CD8+ T cells through the NF‐κB signaling pathway, thereby inhibiting tumor progression.

Icariin Enhances the Enzymatic Activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase to Augment Akkermansia Abundance in Gut Microbiota for Improved PD‐1 Blockade Efficacy in Tumor Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Icariin promoted the growth of Akk by enhancing the activity of N‐acetylgalactosaminidase (Amuc_0920), which enhanced mucin utilization and provided a favorable nutrient environment for bacterial growth. This icariin‐mediated enrichment of Akk further reshaped the tumor microenvironment and promoted CD8+ T cell infiltration, ultimately synergizing with

Machine Learning Accelerates Crystallization for Structure Determination

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Single‐crystal x‐ray diffraction (SCXRD) is often constrained by the difficulty of obtaining suitable crystals. Here, a machine learning‐accelerated co‐crystal discovery workflow is established for a crystalline mate strategy that achieves over 95% prediction accuracy and experimentally delivers 114 co‐crystals from 120 candidates.

Global value chain participation in boosting innovativeness of European businesses: Evidence from the European Union countries

open access: yesJournal of Economics and Management
Aim/purpose – Global value chains (GVCs), along with their specific forms of forward and backward linkages, remain the predominant mode of global production. However, their consequences for national economies are not universally clear.
