Jamming transitions and avalanches in the game of Dots-and-Boxes

open access: yes, 2002
We study the game of Dots-and-Boxes from a statistical point of view. The early game can be treated as a case of Random Sequential Adsorption, with a jamming transition that marks the beginning of the end-game.

Tumor‐Intrinsic ARHGEF3 Enhances Antitumor Immunity by Promoting T‐Cell Infiltration and Limiting Myeloid Cell‐Mediated Immunosuppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ARHGEF3 is broadly downregulated across human cancers and correlates with patient prognosis. Tumor‐intrinsic ARHGEF3 activates the RHOA–ROCK–PTEN cascade to inhibit AKT signaling, thereby promoting chemokine‐driven T‐cell infiltration and relieving lipid‐mediated myeloid immunosuppression.

Color‐Pure Organic Luminophores: Characteristics, Definitions, Physical Basis and Fundamental Design Principles

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Color‐pure all‐organic emitters, i.e., with narrow spectral characteristics, are intensively studied for high‐definition organic LEDs and multi‐color bioimaging. In order to guide targeted materials design, this educative review discusses spectral characteristics, proper definitions and units, and the physical basis of spectral broadening, to distill ...

Threshold $J/\psi-$ production in nucleon-nucleon collisions [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
We analyze $J/\psi-$ production in nucleon-nucleon collisions near threshold in the framework of a general model independent formalism, which can be applied to any reaction $N+N\to N+N+V^0$, where $V^0=\omega$, $\phi$, or $J/\psi$.

STAID: A Self‐Refining Deep Learning Framework for Spatial Cell‐Type Deconvolution with Biologically Informed Modeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
STAID is a unified deep learning framework that couples iterative pseudo‐spot refinement with neural network training through a feedback loop and exploits gene co‐expression information to model higher‐order interactions, achieving accurate and robust cell‐type deconvolution in spatial transcriptomics.

Emerging Varieties of Capitalism in Transition Countries: Literature Review

open access: yesInternational Journal of Management and Economics, 2015
The systemic transformation of post-socialist countries from central planning to a market economy was a very complex and unprecedented undertaking. In this study we critically examine three influential classifications proposed by Coates [2000, 2006 ...

2D Quantum Hydrogen Atom in Circularly Polarized Microwaves

open access: yes, 1995
The ionization of hydrogen Rydberg atoms by circularly polarized microwaves is studied quantum mechanically in a model two dimensional atom. We apply a combination of a transformation to the coordinate frame rotating with the field, with complex rotation

On the prevalence of elliptic and genus one fibrations among toric hypersurface Calabi-Yau threefolds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We systematically analyze the fibration structure of toric hypersurface Calabi-Yau threefolds with large and small Hodge numbers. We show that there are only four such Calabi-Yau threefolds with $h^{1, 1} \geq 140$ or $h^{2, 1} \geq 140$ that do not have

Xenogeneic Mitochondrial Transplantation Improves Selected Age‐Associated Phenotypes in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Yak‐derived xenogeneic mitochondrial transplantation improves selected age‐associated phenotypes in mice, enhances mitochondrial functional readouts, and engages host mitochondrial quality‐control pathways. Broad tissue biodistribution, increased ATP production and mtDNA copy number, reduced ROS levels and dysfunctional mitochondria, improved motility ...

Did BICEP2 see vector modes? First B-mode constraints on cosmic defects

open access: yes, 2014
Scaling networks of cosmic defects, such as strings and textures, actively generate scalar, vector and tensor metric perturbations throughout the history of the universe. In particular, {\em vector} modes sourced by defects are an efficient source of the
