Validation and standardization of IS900 and F57 real-time quantitative PCR assays for the specific detection and quantification ofMycobacterium aviumsubsp.paratuberculosis [PDF]

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Microbiology, 2011
Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (Map) is the causative agent of Johne’s disease and may contribute to the onset and development of Crohn’s disease in humans. Rapid detection of Map is fundamental because of its reported isolation from pasteurized milk and its potential for transmission through environmental sources.

In Vitro Fermentation Characteristics of Seven Commonly Used Dairy Roughages With Relatively High and Low Nutritive Values

open access: yesGrass and Forage Science, Volume 80, Issue 3, July-September 2025.
ABSTRACT Roughage constitutes a fundamental component of dairy cow diets; it promotes rumen health and supports optimal animal productivity. This study applied an ANKOM gas production system to assess the in vitro fermentation characteristics of seven widely used dairy roughages (barley hay, corn silage, lucerne hay, oaten hay, ryegrass hay, timothy ...

Exogenous sugar addition can exacerbate root carbon limitation in trees

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 247, Issue 2, Page 577-594, July 2025.
Summary In most tree species, roots serve as major carbon (C) sinks, where C is depleted first when C assimilation is limited. Recent methodological advancements in sugar infusion allow for a better understanding of physiological processes alleviating root C limitation.

Enumeration of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis by quantitative real-time PCR, culture on solid media and optical densitometry

open access: yesBMC Research Notes, 2012
Background Different approaches are used for determining the number of Mycobacterium avium subsp. paratuberculosis (MAP) cells in a suspension. The majority of them are based upon culture (determination of CFU) or visual/instrumental direct counting of ...

Prediction of Four Novel SNPs V17M, R11H, A66T, and F57S in the SBDS Gene Possibly Associated with Formation of Shwachman-Diamond Syndrome, using an Insilico Approach [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Shwachman-Diamond syndrome SDS (MIM 260400) is an autosomal recessive disorder. Characterized by exocrine insufficiency of the pancreas, bone marrow hypoplasia resulting in cytopenias, especially neutropenia, variable degree of skeletal abnormalities, failure to thrive, and increasing risk of developing myelodysplasia or transformation to leukemia.
