Identification of β‐galactosidases along the secretory pathway of Nicotiana benthamiana that collectively hamper engineering of galactose‐extended glycans on recombinant glycoproteins

open access: yesPlant Biotechnology Journal, Volume 24, Issue 1, Page 224-238, January 2026.
Summary Glycosylation is an important aspect for many biopharmaceuticals, including vaccines against parasitic helminths. Plants, especially Nicotiana benthamiana, have proven to be excellent production hosts for biopharmaceuticals with tailor‐made glycosylation.

A 60-year time series analyses of the upwelling along the Portuguese Coast [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
Coastal upwelling has a significant local impact on marine coastal environment and on marine biology, namely fisheries. This study aims to evaluate climate and environmental changes in upwelling trends between 1950 and 2010.

Different Pattern in Circulating MicroRNA‐22‐3p Levels Between Patients With Primary Versus Secondary Sarcopenia

open access: yesAging Cell, Volume 24, Issue 12, December 2025.
Serum miR‐22 levels are significantly associated with both primary (age‐related) and secondary (heart failure‐related) sarcopenia and independently predict its presence. Circulating miR‐22 may be a novel, non‐invasive epigenetic biomarker for detecting sarcopenia in aging and heart failure.

First-order flow equations for extremal black holes in very special geometry

open access: yes, 2007
We construct interpolating solutions describing single-center static extremal non-supersymmetric black holes in four-dimensional N=2 supergravity theories with cubic prepotentials.

Inhibition of human factor IXa by human antithrombin

open access: yesJournal of Biological Chemistry, 1975
A procedure is presented for the purification of Factor IX from human plasma. The final product is homogeneous as judged by disc gel electrophoresis and sodium dodecyl sulfate gel electrophoresis. Furthermore, it is completely free of other coagulation component activities.

Untangling sedimentation processes in a deep fjord lake in Labrador: A high‐resolution archive of past environment dynamics at Grand Lake

open access: yesThe Depositional Record, Volume 11, Issue 5, Page 1259-1284, November 2025.
Sedimentological and geochemical characteristics are used to reconstruct sedimentation dynamics and erosional processes. Several rapidly deposited layers are characterised over changing depositional environments during the Late Holocene, from a phase when the lake was connected to the sea to a more stable state conducive to varve formation.

Metastable supersymmetry breaking in N=2 non-linear sigma-models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We perform a general study of the issue of metastability for supersymmetry-breaking vacua in theories with N=1 and N=2 global supersymmetry. This problem turns out to capture all the important qualitative features of the corresponding question in ...

Stabilization of thrombin-activated porcine factor VIII:C by factor IXa phospholipid [PDF]

open access: yesBlood, 1984
Abstract The activation of porcine factor X by an enzymatic complex consisting of activated factor IX (factor IXa), thrombin-activated factor VIII:C (factor VIII:Ca), phospholipid vesicles, and calcium was studied in the presence of an irreversible inhibitor of factor Xa, 5-dimethylamino- naphthalene-1-sulfonyl-glutamyl-glycyl-arginyl ...

Egg Characteristics of Female Common Terns Are Repeatable, and Vary With Maternal Age and Laying Order

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 11, November 2025.
We investigated sources of variation in eight egg characteristics capturing the colour, spottiness, shape, and size of 1589 eggs from 687 clutches produced by 330 female common terns (Sterna hirundo) of known age. We found a high repeatability of the eight egg traits, both within clutches and among clutches of the same female. We also observed a within‐

Higgsing M2 to D2 with gravity: N=6 chiral supergravity from topologically gauged ABJM theory [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
We present the higgsing of three-dimensional N=6 superconformal ABJM type theories coupled to conformal supergravity, so called topologically gauged ABJM theory, thus providing a gravitational extension of previous work on the relation between N M2 and N
