Development of nifedipine-loaded albumin microspheres using a statistical factorial design
International Journal of Pharmaceutics, 1996Nifedipine-loaded albumin microspheres were prepared by a chemical cross-linking method to develop a sustained-release form. The qualities of the nifedipine-loaded albumin microsphere products were affected by several variables. In this study, the effects on the percentage of nifedipine incorporated into albumin microspheres of four different variables

The optimization of spraying parameters to improve pesticide efficacy and reduce environmental impacts requires a large number of experimental treatments. Some experimental designs can be used to reduce the required number of treatment combinations. A comparison between a 33 factorial design and a central composite design (CCD) regarding the model ...

Evaluation of modeling accuracy of 20-node solid elements by statistical factorial design
Computers & Structures, 1994Abstract Many complex engineering structures consist of plates and shells. When applying finite element methods to a plate or shell, how can a design engineer choose an initial mesh and decide the integration order? The statistical design of experiments is employed to investigate the influence of three relevant modeling factors—aspect ratio, number ...

This work describes the tribological properties of mono AA6061-10 wt% B4C and hybrid AA6061-10 wt% B4C-7.5 wt% Gr composites which could be used as a potential substitute for aluminum alloys used in automotive engines. The tribological experiments are performed as per the experimental scheme designed using full factorial design.

Prioritised multi‐response product screening using fractional factorial designs and order statistics
Journal of Manufacturing Technology Management, 2009Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to propose a manufacturing product‐screening methodology that will require minimal resource expenditures as well as succinct improvement tools based on multi‐response prioritisation.Design/methodology/approach – A six‐step methodology is overviewed that relies on the sampling efficiency of fractional factorial ...

This study examined the effects of total solids (TS), preheat treatment temperature, and first‐ and second‐stage homogenisation pressures on the stability of model infant formula emulsions, using factorial statistical design. Oil droplet size decreased with increasing first‐ and second‐stage homogenisation pressures.

Full factorial design of experiment was employed to evaluate the effect of variables on the settling performance of coal fine. Influence of the variable parameters was discussed using 2D surface plots. Settling rate and turbidity were more sensitive to the flocculant dosage followed by the pH and the feed density.

Self-consolidating concrete (SCC) is typically proportioned with relatively high contents of cementitious materials and chemical admixtures, leading to relatively high material costs. Such costs can be tolerated in high-value-added applications, especially if cost savings can be realized from using SCC.

Background: Candida albicans is the yeast that causes the fungal infection known as candidiasis. One of the standard methods for treating candida is the application of fluconazole. The low solubility of fluconazole in aqueous media is a big problem in the use of this agent. Novel drug delivery systems, such as microemulsions, could be applied to solve
