Factorize Factorization

open access: yesCoRR, 2020
Factorization -- a simple form of standardization -- is concerned with reduction strategies, i.e. how a result is computed. We present a new technique for proving factorization theorems for compound rewriting systems in a modular way, which is inspired by the Hindley-Rosen technique for confluence.

A method of factoring and the factorization of 𝐹₇ [PDF]

open access: yesMathematics of Computation, 1975
The continued fraction method for factoring integers, which was introduced by D. H. Lehmer and R. E. Powers, is discussed along with its computer implementation. The power of the method is demonstrated by the factorization of the seventh Fermat number

Complete-factors and f-factors

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics, 2000
Let \(G\) be a graph and \(F\) a spanning subgraph of \(G\) with at least two components and with all components complete. Let \(f\) be an integer-valued function defined on \(V(G)\) with \(\sum_{x \in V(G)} f(x)\) even. If for each component \(C\) of \(F\), \(G - V(C)\) has an \(f\)-factor (that is, a spanning subgraph \(H\) in which \(\deg_H(x) = f(x)

Cross-modal interactions at the audiovisual cocktail-party revealed by behavior, ERPs, and neural oscillations

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2023
Theories of attention argue that objects are the units of attentional selection. In real-word environments such objects can contain visual and auditory features. To understand how mechanisms of selective attention operate in multisensory environments, in

Human Reliability Analysis for Digitized Nuclear Power Plants: Case Study on the LingAo II Nuclear Power Plant

open access: yesNuclear Engineering and Technology, 2017
The main control room (MCR) in advanced nuclear power plants (NPPs) has changed from analog to digital control system (DCS). Operation and control have become more automated, centralized, and accurate due to the digitalization of NPPs, which has improved

Preparing for the unknown: How working memory provides a link between perception and anticipated action

open access: yesNeuroImage, 2022
What mechanisms underlie the transfer of a working memory representation into a higher-level code for guiding future actions? Electrophysiological correlates of attentional selection and motor preparation processes within working memory were investigated

Effects of age on electrophysiological correlates of speech processing in a dynamic cocktail-party situation

open access: yesFrontiers in Neuroscience, 2015
Successful speech perception in multi-speaker environments depends on auditory scene analysis, comprising auditory object segregation and grouping, and on focusing attention toward the speaker of interest.

Odor Thresholds and Breathing Changes of Human Volunteers as Consequences of Sulphur Dioxide Exposure Considering Individual Factors

open access: yesSafety and Health at Work, 2011
Objectives: Though sulfur dioxide (SO2) is used widely at workplaces, itseffects on humans are not known. Thresholds are report-edwithout reference to gender or age and occupational exposure limits are basedon effects on lung functioning, although ...

Blink-related EEG activity measures cognitive load during proactive and reactive driving

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2023
Assessing drivers’ cognitive load is crucial for driving safety in challenging situations. This research employed the occurrence of drivers’ natural eye blinks as cues in continuously recorded EEG data to assess the cognitive workload while reactive or ...
