Adult Blow Flies Host Diverse Carrion‐Associated Microbiomes

open access: yesNew Zealand Journal of Zoology, Volume 53, Issue 3, September 2026.
Blow flies (Diptera: Calliphoridae) perform important yet often overlooked roles in ecosystems as decomposers, pollinators and vectors of disease. Central to these functions are their associations with microbial communities, which are maintained through close contact with diverse microbe‐rich substrates such as carrion, dung and flowers.

Understanding the Molecular Processes of Obesity and the Anti‐Obesity Properties of Bioactive Substances Found in Tea

open access: yesPhytochemicals in Food and Medicine, Volume 1, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Obesity, a severe worldwide health concern, is characterized as an excessive deposit of fat in the human body. It has various ramifications that endanger human health and increase the financial expense. Obesity raises the risk of several illnesses, notably cardiovascular disease, NALFD, and diabetes, and has been associated with shorter ...

Two‐Stage Anaerobic Digestion of Sugarcane Vinasse: A Bibliometric Analysis of Research Trends and Gaps

open access: yesEnvironmental Quality Management, Volume 36, Issue 3, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Sugarcane vinasse, a by‐product of bioethanol production, poses a significant environmental challenge due to its high organic load and the large volumes generated. Anaerobic digestion (AD) has been widely explored as an alternative treatment, particularly in two‐stage configurations that can enhance methane recovery.

Recent and Promising Strategies for Robust, Sustainable, and Cost‐Friendly Production of Yogurt With Superior Quality

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Yogurt is one of the most technologically mature fermented dairy products on the market, traditionally prepared using the two lactic acid bacteria (LAB) Streptococcus thermophilus and Lactobacillus delbrueckii subsp. bulgaricus. Global demand for yogurt continues to rise, driven by consumer interest in healthy, high‐protein diets with as few ...

Antimicrobial Surfaces for Reusable Food Packaging: A Comprehensive Review of Functionality and Suitability

open access: yesComprehensive Reviews in Food Science and Food Safety, Volume 25, Issue 5, September 2026.
ABSTRACT With the recent introduction of the European Union's Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) in February 2025, reusable plastic packaging schemes have gained increasing attention as a more circular and sustainable alternative to single‐use plastics (SUPs).

Adaptation of Microbialite‐Associated Prokaryotic Communities to Natural and Experimental Anoxic Conditions

open access: yesGeobiology, Volume 24, Issue 5, September/October 2026.
ABSTRACT Microbialites are rocks formed by microbial communities that influence, promote, and/or control the precipitation of mineral phases. The oldest microbialites date back to the Archean and formed under globally anoxic conditions. Accordingly, modern microbialites developing under oxic conditions are limited analogs of their earliest predecessors.

Diabetic Foot Ulcer–Associated Versus Other Lower‐Extremity Necrotising Soft‐Tissue Infections: A Retrospective Cohort Study

open access: yesInternational Wound Journal, Volume 23, Issue 9, September 2026.
ABSTRACT To compare clinical characteristics, microbiology, treatment burden and outcomes between lower‐extremity necrotising soft tissue infections associated with diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) and lower‐extremity necrotising soft tissue infections not associated with DFU.

Species‐level controls of foliar methane and nitrous oxide fluxes: roles of traits and microbes in temperate trees

open access: yesNew Phytologist, Volume 251, Issue 6, Page 3221-3237, September 2026.
Species‐level variation in temperate tree foliar greenhouse gas exchange, showing consistent foliar CH4 uptake, N2O emission, stronger CH4 uptake in fall leaves, and contrasting methanotroph communities between the high‐CH4‐oxidizing species Tilia americana and the low‐CH4‐oxidizing species Prunus virginiana. Summary The contribution of tree foliage to

Anaerobic bacteria in the clinical microbiology laboratory

open access: yes, 2007
thesisRecent advances in anaerobic microbiology require more sophisticated techniques and newer knowledge. Using these newer methods gives results that have not been available in routine clinical laboratories before.
