An Improved Method of Failure Mode Analysis for Design Changes [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Organised by: Cranfield UniversityCustomers and market changes behaviour are a large part of the product creation and modification. Though, design changes introduce new potential failures into the products.

Estimating Time-Varying Effects of Prognostic Factors for Stomach Cancer Patients within a Dynamic Grouped Cox Model [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We describe the identification of prognostic factors in the framework of a completely resected stomach cancer survival-study. For the analysis the dynamic grouped Cox-Model was used allowing for time-varying covariate effects.

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

A Modified Method for Risk Evaluation in Failure Mode and Effects Analysis

open access: yes, 2016
This study proposes a modified failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA) method based on fuzzy set theory and fuzzy analytic hierarchy process (FAHP) by analyzing the limitations of the traditional FMEA.

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.

Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) for Photovoltaic Inverter

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics
Photovoltaic (PV) inverters are critical yet vulnerable components in modern energy systems, often acting as reliability bottlenecks that increase the levelized cost of energy (LCOE).

Fatigue failure transition evaluation of load carrying cruciform welded joints by effective notch energy model

open access: yes, 2022
This paper investigates fatigue failure transition boundary of Load-carrying Cruciform Weld Joint (LCWJ) with different yield strength mismatch ratios and geometrical sizes of welded joints under cyclic loading conditions using a semi-empirical ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Expanded Failure Mode and Effects Analysis: Advanced Approach for Reliability Assessments

open access: yesRevista Cubana de Ingeniería, 2016
The qualitative methods for risk and reliability assessment have proved to be a useful analytical tool in support of decision-making processes. This paper shows the key aspects of a new approach developed in the failure mode and effects analysis method ...
