ShcD adaptor protein drives invasion of triple negative breast cancer cells by aberrant activation of EGFR signaling

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We identified adaptor protein ShcD as upregulated in triple‐negative breast cancer and found its expression to be correlated with reduced patient survival and increased invasion in cell models. Using a proteomic screen, we identified novel ShcD binding partners involved in EGFR signaling pathways.

MET and NF2 alterations confer primary and early resistance to first‐line alectinib treatment in ALK‐positive non‐small‐cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Alectinib resistance in ALK+ NSCLC depends on treatment sequence and EML4‐ALK variants. Variant 1 exhibited off‐target resistance after first‐line treatment, while variant 3 and later lines favored on‐target mutations. Early resistance involved off‐target alterations, like MET and NF2, while on‐target mutations emerged with prolonged therapy.

Annual Interruption Rate as a KPI, its measurement and comparison [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
This article is divided into two chapters. The first chapter describes the failure rate as a KPI and studies its properties. The second one goes over ways to compare this KPI across two groups using the concepts of statistical hypothesis testing. In section 1., we will motivate the failure rate as a KPI (in Azure, it is dubbed `Annual Interruption ...

Targeted protein degradation in oncology: novel therapeutic opportunity for solid tumours?

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Current anticancer therapies are limited by the occurrence of resistance and undruggability of most proteins. Targeted protein degraders are novel, promising agents that trigger the selective degradation of previously undruggable proteins through the recruitment of the ubiquitin–proteasome machinery. Their mechanism of action raises exciting challenges,

Evaluating Reliability of SSD-Based I/O Caches in Enterprise Storage Systems [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
In this paper, we present a comprehensive analysis investigating the reliability of SSD-based I/O caching architectures used in enterprise storage systems under power failure and high-operating temperature. We explore variety of SSDs from top vendors and investigate the cache reliability in mirrored configuration.

Aberrant expression of nuclear prothymosin α contributes to epithelial‐mesenchymal transition in lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Nuclear prothymosin α inhibits epithelial‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in lung cancer by increasing Smad7 acetylation and competing with Smad2 for binding to SNAI1, TWIST1, and ZEB1 promoters. In early‐stage cancer, ProT suppresses TGF‐β‐induced EMT, while its loss in the nucleus in late‐stage cancer leads to enhanced EMT and poor prognosis.

Real-Time Detection of Robot Failures Using Gaze Dynamics in Collaborative Tasks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Detecting robot failures during collaborative tasks is crucial for maintaining trust in human-robot interactions. This study investigates user gaze behaviour as an indicator of robot failures, utilising machine learning models to distinguish between non-failure and two types of failures: executional and decisional. Eye-tracking data were collected from
