Integrating clinical trial data with electronic health records to improve diversity in research: findings from an urban hospital system

open access: yesTrials
Background Underrepresentation of racial and ethnic minorities, women, and certain age groups in clinical trials continues to threaten the validity of novel therapeutic interventions and exacerbate longstanding inequities in health outcomes.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Speedy Routing Recovery Protocol for Large Failure Tolerance in Wireless Sensor Networks

open access: yesSensors, 2010
Wireless sensor networks are expected to play an increasingly important role in data collection in hazardous areas. However, the physical fragility of a sensor node makes reliable routing in hazardous areas a challenging problem.

Why service recovery fails : tensions among customer, employee, and process perspectives [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Purpose - The keys to effective service recovery are familiar to many throughout industry and academia. Nevertheless, overall customer satisfaction after a failure has not improved, and many managers claim their organizations cannot respond to and fix ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

DetNet service share protection scheme based on SRv6

open access: yesTongxin xuebao, 2021
To solve the problem that existing methods are difficult to achieve efficient deployment and service protection in deterministic network (DetNet), a DetNet service protection architecture based on SRv6 was proposed.By leveraging this architecture, a ...

Loss of IGF‐1R impairs DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin leading to defective end‐joining

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
IGF‐1R promotes radioresistance by facilitating DNA‐PKcs recruitment to chromatin, enabling non‐homologous end‐joining (NHEJ) repair of double‐strand breaks. Inhibition or loss of IGF‐1R disrupts this recruitment to damage sites, driving compensatory reliance on microhomology‐mediated end‐joining (MMEJ) repair.

Patient therapy outcome modeling in cancer organoids is improved by cancer‐associated fibroblasts and organoid assembly convolution

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Patient‐derived organoids (PDOs) from pancreatic, colorectal, and gastric cancers were used to evaluate standard and experimental therapies. Incorporating cancer‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) into organoid cultures improved patient therapy outcome prediction.

The Role of Co-creation in Service Recovery

open access: yes, 2023
The hotel and tourism industries are particularly susceptible to service failures due to the high interaction between customers and employees. Service failures can have serious consequences for the business, including customer dissatisfaction, negative ...
