Improvement in operating efficiency of falling-film evaporators

Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, 2013
A procedure is outlined for determination of the basic dimensions of falling-film evaporators, which will result in their rational design. It is proposed to calculate the basic dimensions of the evaporator as a function of various factors such as the reflux density of the pipes containing the solution, steam separation, and heat losses.

Heat Transfer in Falling Film Evaporators

1992
Falling film evaporators consist of vertically arranged heating surfaces. Tubes are usually used. From these, a liquid flows off in the form of a thin film and is evaporated by the addition of heat. Frequently, in such apparatus, a solvent is to be extracted by evaporation from a solution consisting of a solvent (water or organic solvent) and the ...

Heat tarnsfer in falling film evaporators

1996
Ill SUMMARY The variation of the heat transfer coefficients in a falling film evaporator at which evaporation takes place from the surface of the liquid films flowing down the inside surface of the vertical tube was investigated in this study. The experimental data were compared with the existing heat transfer data in the literature.
