Effect of false positive and false negative rates on inference of binding target conservation across different conditions and species from ChIP-chip data

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2009
Background ChIP-chip data are routinely used to identify transcription factor binding targets. However, the presence of false positives and false negatives in ChIP-chip data complicates and hinders analyses, especially when the binding targets for a ...

Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

ChIP-on-chip significance analysis reveals large-scale binding and regulation by human transcription factor oncogenes [PDF]

open access: yes
ChIP-on-chip has emerged as a powerful tool to dissect the complex network of regulatory interactions between transcription factors and their targets.

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Weak Underwater Acoustic Target Detection and Enhancement with BM-SEED Algorithm

open access: yesJournal of Marine Science and Engineering, 2023
Bearing time record (BTR) is widely used in the field of passive sonar information processing for target detecting and tracking. One of its challenges is to obtain high-resolution beamforming power spectral to facilitate the directions estimating of ...

Serendipitous Discovery of Light-Induced \u3cem\u3e(In Situ)\u3c/em\u3e Formation of An Azo-Bridged Dimeric Sulfonated Naphthol as a Potent PTP1B Inhibito [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Background Protein tyrosine phosphatases (PTPs) like dual specificity phosphatase 5 (DUSP5) and protein tyrosine phosphatase 1B (PTP1B) are drug targets for diseases that include cancer, diabetes, and vascular disorders such as hemangiomas.

Planet Hunters X: Searching for Nearby Neighbors of 75 Planet and Eclipsing Binary Candidates from the K2 Kepler Extended Mission [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
We present high-resolution observations of a sample of 75 K2 targets from Campaigns 1-3 using speckle interferometry on the Southern Astrophysical Research (SOAR) telescope and adaptive optics (AO) imaging at the Keck II telescope.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.

A Novel Interrupted-Sampling Repeater Jamming Suppression Method Based on Time-Frequency Analysis and Target Sparse Reconstruction

open access: yesInternational Journal of Antennas and Propagation, 2022
Interrupted-sampling repeater jamming (ISRJ) is a new kind of coherent jamming for linear frequency modulation (LFM) signals. Based on digital radio frequency memory (DRFM), ISRJ can generate multiple false target groups by intercepting, storing, and ...

Validation of Kepler's Multiple Planet Candidates. II: Refined Statistical Framework and Descriptions of Systems of Special Interest

open access: yes, 2014
We extend the statistical analysis of Lissauer et al. (2012, ApJ 750, 112), which demonstrates that the overwhelming majority of Kepler candidate multiple transiting systems (multis) represent true transiting planets, and develop therefrom a procedure to
