ORGANIZATIONAL CULTURE SHAPED BY ENTREPRENEURIAL ORIENTATION IN FAMILY FIRMS

open access: yesZeszyty Naukowe Wyższej Szkoły Humanitas Zarządzanie, 2021
Contemporary enterprises are still looking for ways and methods of achieving a competitive advantage, which invariably include entrepreneurship. Entrepreneurial orientation is an organizational construct consisting of five dimensions: proactivity, innovation, competitive aggressiveness, autonomy and risk taking.

Pathways and pitfalls: a qualitative study of student experiences in biomedical science education

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Biomedical science students from underrepresented backgrounds face barriers including financial strain, disrupted laboratory access and cultural exclusion. Peer networks provide vital support when institutional systems are difficult to navigate. To create inclusive learning environments and achieve academic success, educators should blend active, hands‐

Importin 7 mediates the nuclear import of HIV‐1 integrase via a specific interacting interface

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HIV‐1 integrase enables viral DNA integration into the host genome. By binding to the core domain of the host protein Importin 7 via its C‐terminal domain, the integrase is transported across the nuclear membrane into the nucleus, where integration of the viral genome into host DNA takes place. This translocation is a critical step for subsequent viral

Resistance or compatibility: Clan culture and corporate social responsibility

open access: yesEuropean Research on Management and Business Economics
Drawing upon a genealogy density of chairpersons’ native places for Chinese family firms to measure the intensity of clan culture, this study uses regression analysis and chooses the fixed model with firm clusters to examine the impact of regional clan ...

Identifying and characterising a plant GH1 β‐glucosidase that exhibits hydrolytic activity on N‐linked glucopyranoside

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We report the first β‐glucosidase with demonstrated hydrolytic activity on an N‐linked glycopyranoside. The enzyme, native to maize, was biochemically characterised for this novel reaction, and structural modelling of the enzyme–substrate complex revealed several clues to the underlying reduced catalytic rate relative to its native O‐glycopyranoside ...

Cultural Reproduction or Cultural Repertoire: Women Leaders, Legitimacy and Firm Performance in Family and Nonfamily Firms

open access: yesSN Business & Economics
Abstract Little research has explored the underlying mechanisms that may enable or inhibit women leaders to be effective. Practice theory, rooted in sociology, looks at the interplay between structure and behavior while addressing the role of individual agency to help understand the formation, reproduction and changes in culture.

Protocol for quantifying miRNA trafficking across the endosomal membrane

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
An in vitro protocol measures miRNA uptake into endosomes isolated from mammalian cell extracts, which are free of subcellular contaminants. Performed at 37 °C in the presence of ATP, it ensures the import of single‐stranded miRNA into the endosomal lumen.

Avidin is evolutionarily conserved in fish but dispensable for development and resistance against Streptococcus agalactiae in zebrafish

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The presence of biotin‐binding avidin proteins in fish and their biological significance are poorly characterized. We cataloged fish avidins and demonstrate that they are widely present and evolutionarily conserved. We created avd knockout zebrafish and show that zebavidin is dispensable for development and that resistance of avd knockout embryos in ...

ALDOA Promotes Glycolysis and NLRP3/GSDMD Pyroptosis to Accelerate ALS Progression

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Glycolytic dysregulation is implicated in disease progression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigates how Aldolase A (ALDOA) drives ALS progression through glycolysis‐mediated motor neuron pyroptosis.
