Hyperactive ice‐binding proteins stabilize cell membranes and improve resistance to dehydration stress in Caenorhabditis elegans

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
TisIBP8, a fungal‐derived hyperactive ice‐binding protein, helps Caenorhabditis elegans survive dehydration. It localizes near cell membranes, reduces cell damage, and helps maintain membrane structure during drying. These results suggest that ice‐binding proteins can protect cells from dehydration stress as well as freezing stress.

Molecular characterization of covRS mutations in M1UK Streptococcus pyogenes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Group A Streptococcus (GAS) acquires covRS mutations driving a hypervirulent bacterial state, frequently associated with invasive disease‐like necrotizing fasciitis. We demonstrate that the newly emerged M1UK GAS lineage can also acquire these mutations.

From energy provision to protein synthesis: Tunnelling nanotubes as mediators of intercellular metabolic cooperation in cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The cytoskeleton‐mediated transport of mitochondria via tunnelling nanotubes restores respiration, increases ATP production, rescues cells from apoptosis, activates the AKT/mTOR signalling pathway, promotes cell migration and invasiveness, contributes to cancer progression and treatment resistance.

Structure–Function Decoupling of the Sensorimotor and Default Mode Networks in Black Americans With MS

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background and Objectives Multiple sclerosis (MS) exhibits racially disparate rates of disease progression. Black people with MS (B‐PwMS) experience a more severe disease course than non‐Hispanic White people with MS (NHW‐PwMS). Here we investigated structural and functional connectivity as well as structure–function decoupling in the ...

Far-field representation for the vertical force on a floating structure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Equations are derived that relate the vertical hydrodynamic force on two- and threedimensional structures that are floating in a fluid of infinite depth to the far-field dipole coefficient in the velocity potential.

Far-field three-dimensional deep-subwavelength focal spot with azimuthal polarization [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
This work focuses on the generation of far-field super-resolved pure-azimuthal focal field based on the fast Fourier transform. A self-designed differential filter is first pioneered to robustly reconfigure a doughnut-shaped azimuthal focal field into a ...

Sound pressure radiation of a circular piston located at a two- and three-wall corners

open access: yesArchives of Acoustics, 2014
This paper focuses on the far field approximation of the steady state sound pressure radiated by a flat circular piston into the region bounded by some flat rigid baffles.

Closed-Form Expressions for LoS User Localization at an Uniform Linear Array Applicable to Both Near-Field and Far-Field

open access: yesIEEE Access
We present a scheme for line-of-sight user localization at a uniform linear array (ULA) applicable to both near-field and far-field. The proposed scheme leads to closed-form expressions for the estimates of the user location, distance and angle.
