On the ignition of H11B fusion fuel

open access: yesFrontiers in Physics
We have revisited recent results on the ideal ignition of H11B fuel, in the light of the latest available reactivity, an alternative self-consistent calculation of the electron temperature, an increased extent of the suprathermal effects and the impact ...

Ablation‐Immune Thermal Armor Via Microstructural‐Compatibility Design for Extreme Thermal Conditions

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study unveils a microstructural‐compatibility design strategy that integrates reactive melt infiltration with plasma spraying to fabricate carbon fiber‐reinforced ZrC‐SiC composites. The deliberate incorporation of SiC into the ZrC coating releases heat accumulation, suppresses detrimental lamellar ZrO2 formation, and reduces residual stress. This

Burning the DT-plasma with inert impurities and non-cryogenic ICF-target with solid fuel

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
The ignition criterion, ignition energy and gain of DT-plasma of ICF-target in the presence of impurities of light atoms such as beryllium, carbon and lithium at their arbitrary concentration are found.

Transient Sleep Deprivation Induces Persistent Auditory Neuropathy via ROS‐Initiated Neuroinflammation and BK Channel Suppression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Sleep disturbance severity closely tracks hearing loss in a clinical cohort, yet the mechanistic link remains unclear. Acute sleep deprivation is shown to trigger transient cochlear oxidative stress that switches into a self‐sustaining neuroinflammatory state, suppressing BK channels and causing irreversible synaptopathy.

Development of time-of-flight neutron detector with fast-decay and low-afterglow scintillator for fast ignition experiment

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
A fast-decay and low-afterglow liquid scintillator was developed for the fast ignition experiment at the Institute of Laser Engineering (ILE). The liquid scintillator was coupled to a gated photomultiplier (PMT), and the gating performance under high ...

Triple‐Coupling Regulation Enables Dendrite‐Free Subzero Aqueous Zn‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A formamide‐ethanol deep eutectic electrolyte enables triple‐coupling regulation of solvation structure, interfacial chemistry, and crystallographic Zn deposition. The reconstructed Zn2+ solvation reduces water activity and suppresses side reactions, while a robust hybrid SEI stabilizes the interface.

Effects of laser temporal profile on fast electron characteristics

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
2D PIC simulations for fast ignition with a planar target and an ultrahigh intensity laser have been performed to investigate effects of laser temporal profile on fast electron characteristics.

Safety of Sodium‐Ion Batteries: Evaluation and Perspective from Component Materials to Cells, Modules, and Packs

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
This review provides a bottom‐up evaluation of sodium‐ion battery safety, linking material degradation mechanisms, cell engineering parameters, and module/pack assembly. It emphasizes that understanding intrinsic material stability and establishing coordinated engineering control across hierarchical levels are vital for preventing degradation coupling ...

Stable transport in proton driven fast ignition [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics of Plasmas, 2009
Proton beam transport in the context of proton driven fast ignition is usually assumed to be stable due to proton high inertia, but an analytical analysis of the process is still lacking. The stability of a charge and current neutralized proton beam passing through a plasma is therefore conducted here, for typical proton driven fast ignition parameters.
