11. Fast ION Conductors

1987
Publisher Summary This chapter discusses that neutron scattering techniques have been applied to study a variety of phenomena in relation to the structure and dynamics of fast ion conductors. The structural studies give descriptions of the average crystallographic order with the distribution of atoms in the unit cell presented, either in terms of ...

Fast Sodium‐Ion Conductivity in Supertetrahedral Phosphidosilicates

Angewandte Chemie, 2018
AbstractFast sodium‐ion conductors are key components of Na‐based all‐solid‐state batteries which hold promise for large‐scale storage of electrical power. We report the synthesis, crystal‐structure determination, and Na+‐ion conductivities of six new Na‐ion conductors, the phosphidosilicates Na19Si13P25, Na23Si19P33, Na23Si28P45, Na23Si37P57, LT ...

Fast Charging Lithium-Ion Batteries

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2017
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">We try to understand the fast recharge capability of automotive lithium-ion batteries and its effect of fast charge on capacity degradation. We find out that 5 Ah prismatic Li-ion cells can be fully recharged in 3 minutes under a constant rate of 20C, or in 2 min (25.5C) from 0 ...

Amorphous Fast Ion Conductors

1989
It is now several decades since the subject of fast ion conduction in crystalline materials was first seriously examined. Scientists were and still remain fascinated with the source of the anamalously high ion conductivities and technologists with the possibilities for these materials in high energy density batteries, sensors, displays, etc.

Fast ion transport in composites

Solid State Ionics, 1986
Abstract Calorimetric investigations on AgI-AgBr and AgI-AI 2 O 3 composites yield large enthalpies. Results are interpreted in terms of enhanced defect interactions at interphase intrefaces. Evidence for a Lix·1/2H 2 O composition is presented.

Fast-ion-beam photoelectron spectrometer

Review of Scientific Instruments, 1995
A high-collection-efficiency fast-ion-beam photoelectron spectrometer is described. In a straight time-of-flight mode, the spectrometer collects ∼1% of the photoelectrons and achieves an energy resolution of ΔE/E of ∼5%. For coincidence experiments requiring greater collection efficiency, a paraboloidal electrostatic mirror is used. The mirror collects

Fast ion beams reveal structures of molecular ions

Physics Today, 1979
Of the many ionic species that normally emerge from the ion source of an electrostatic accelerator, it has traditionally been only the monatomic ions that are considered to provide “useful” beams. The remaining beams of molecular ions (H2+, H3+, HeH+, OH+, etc.), which frequently constitute as much as 90% of the total ion-beam current, are seldom used ...

Diffusion in Fast-Ion Conductors

1990
Fast-ion conductors are solids with unusually high ionic conductivities, comparable to those found in molten salts. They have excited considerable attention because of their important technological applications, particularly as battery electrolytes.
