Kinesthetic teaching via Fast Marching Square

2012 IEEE/RSJ International Conference on Intelligent Robots and Systems, 2012
This paper presents a novel robotic learning technique based on Fast Marching Square (FM2). This method, which we have called FM Learning, is based on incorporating previous experience to the path planning system of the robot by taking into account paths taught to the robot via kinesthetic teaching, this is, guiding manually the robot through the ...

Accelerating fast marching for geometrical optics

2017 International Applied Computational Electromagnetics Society Symposium - Italy (ACES), 2017
We present an approach for a fast and accurate determination of the geometrical optics solutions to Maxwell's equations based on the determination of the eikonal function and devised to handle scenarios involving complex spatially varying refraction indices.

Fast Marching to Moving Object Location

1999
In this paper we address two important problems in motion analysis: the detection of moving objects and their localization. Statis- tical and level set approaches are adopted in order to formulate these problems. For the change detection problem, the inter-frame difference is modeled by a mixture of two zero-mean Laplacian distributions.

Symmetric Fast Marching Schemes for Better Numerical Isotropy

IEEE Transactions on Pattern Analysis and Machine Intelligence, 2013
Existing fast marching methods solve the Eikonal equation using a continuous (first-order) model to estimate the accumulated cost, but a discontinuous (zero-order) model for the traveling cost at each grid point. As a result the estimate of the accumulated cost (calculated numerically) at a given point will vary based on the direction of the arriving ...

A Massive Parallel Fast Marching Method

2016
In this paper we present a novel technique based on domain decomposition which enables us to perform the fast marching method (FMM) [4] on massive parallel high performance computers (HPC) for given triangulated geometries. The FMM is a widely used numerical method and one of the fastest serial state-of-the-art techniques for computing the solution to ...

Fast Marching for Robust Surface Segmentation

2011
We propose a surface segmentation method based on Fast Marching Farthest Point Sampling designed for noisy, visually reconstructed point clouds or laser range data. Adjusting the distance metric between neighboring vertices we obtain robust, edge-preserving segmentations based on local curvature.
