The effects of aerobic exercise on the levels of Leptin and Adiponectin in overweight women [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Fasting and Health, 2015
Background & Objectives: Several epidemiological studies have indicated factors such as Leptin level, Adiponectin and plasma adiponectin-to-leptin index to be the predicting biomarkers for cardiovascular diseases.

Effect of Periodic Fasting on Growth and Feed Efficiency in Giant Freshwater Prawn (Macrobrachium Rosenbergii, De Man 1879) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2019
There are obstacles in the aquaculture business that is still often facedbyfarmers, one of the challengesisthe high price of commercial feed. Feed as an energy source for growth is a reasonably high-cost component in production that reaches 40-89 %.

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

How fast is fast? [PDF]

open access: yesEos, Transactions American Geophysical Union, 1997
Thanks to the Next Generation Internet (NGI) initiative, in 5 years, information could flow a thousand times faster through business computer lines. Moreover, the Internet images and movies that slowly form on home computers today could arrive a million times faster, through the initiative by NASA and five other federal agencies—if Congress gives the ...

Colorectal cancer‐derived FGF19 is a metabolically active serum biomarker that exerts enteroendocrine effects on mouse liver

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Meta‐transcriptome analysis identified FGF19 as a peptide enteroendocrine hormone associated with colorectal cancer prognosis. In vivo xenograft models showed release of FGF19 into the blood at levels that correlated with tumor volumes. Tumoral‐FGF19 altered murine liver metabolism through FGFR4, thereby reducing bile acid synthesis and increasing ...

Specific role of glucose in rapid lipogenic activation in vivo

open access: yesJournal of Lipid Research, 1973
Lipogenesis from glucose C was previously found to be rapidly activated as soon as mice nibbled a fat-free, glucose-rich diet. We have studied here whether such rapid activation is a specific effect of dietary glucose. The flux of endogenous glucose C to

COMP–PMEPA1 axis promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition in breast cancer cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study reveals that cartilage oligomeric matrix protein (COMP) promotes epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition (EMT) in breast cancer. We identify PMEPA1 (protein TMEPAI) as a novel COMP‐binding partner that mediates EMT via binding to the TSP domains of COMP, establishing the COMP–PMEPA1 axis as a key EMT driver in breast cancer.
