Self‐Assembled Lipids as Soft Dielectrics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Self‐assembled lipid bilayers serve as soft dielectric materials for ultrathin electronics. Using liquid‐metal parallel‐plate junctions, the capacitance and dielectric breakdown of dehydrated lipid films are characterized. Dielectric behavior is controlled by lipid molecular structure, cholesterol content, and assembly conditions, providing molecular ...

Coronary CT angiography-derived pericoronary fat attenuation index: Post-mortem histopathological correlation in fatal plaques

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cardiology
The fat attenuation index (FAI) is a biomarker that has recently gained attention for reflecting perivascular inflammation in coronary arteries. We investigated the utility of the FAI in identifying high-risk coronary plaques responsible for sudden cardiac death (SCD).Using multiphase post-mortem CT angiography (MPMCTA), we analyzed culprit plaques ...

Assessing Pancreatic Fat Content and Postpancreatectomy Outcomes: The Significance of the Pancreatic Attenuation Index [PDF]

open access: yes
This study investigates the predictive value of the Pancreatic Attenuation Index (PAI) in assessing post-pancreatectomy outcomes and its significance in preoperative risk assessment. A prospective cohort analysis was conducted on 12 patients undergoing elective pancreatectomy at a single institution over one year.

Confinement‐Engineered Thermally Programmed Ion‐Gating Separator for Decoupling Thermal–Electrochemical Feedback in High‐Energy Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A new phase‐change material encapsulated membrane offers more thermal resilience stability and safety than the conventional separators for batteries. ABSTRACT Thermal runaway in lithium‐ion batteries arises from the intrinsic coupling between heat generation and ion transport, yet conventional shutdown separators primarily rely on passive pore collapse

Allometric fat mass index and alanine aminotransferase attenuate the associations of platelet parameters with lung cancer risk

open access: yesScientific Reports
We have previously shown that body mass index attenuates a positive association of platelet count (PLT) and inverse of mean platelet volume (MPV) with lung cancer risk in men. It is unclear whether fat mass, lean mass, or liver function tests (LFTs) show

Mechanical Programming of PEGDA‐β‐CD Polyrotaxane‐Based Hydrogels via Host–Guest Molecular Recognition

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A mechanically programmable hydrogel for tissue engineering is developed by modulating the molecular threading density of poly(ethylene glycol) diacrylate‐β‐cyclodextrin (PEGDA‐β‐CD) polyrotaxane and combining it with β‐CD‐modified gelatin. The polyrotaxane‐guided transition from disordered pores to laminar microstructures enables precise tuning ...

Cellular Responses to Mechanical Cues Across Scales: From Fundamental Insights to Translational Potential

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This review examines how cellular behavior is regulated by mechanical cues transmitted through soft biomaterials, from single‐cell mechanosensing to tissue‐level adaptation. It highlights why physiological relevance, rather than model complexity alone, is critical for translational mechanobiology and introduces a scoring framework linking material ...

Conjugated Porphyrin Polymer With Superior Charge Transfer for Photodynamic‐Immunomodulatory Prevention of CIED Infection in Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Under NIR irradiation, PTCPP generates ROS to eliminate MRSA biofilms and promote M1 macrophage polarization for phagocytosis. After bacterial clearance, the material is phagocytosed by macrophages, shifting their polarization to M2 phenotype via metabolic reprogramming, which synergistically enhances anti‐infection therapy and wound healing.
