This study shows that superalloys used in aircraft engine disks become much more prone to deformation at high temperatures if they have been strained during manufacturing. This effect increases with the level of prior strain but eventually reaches a limit.

Local and non-local approaches to creep crack initiation and propagation
A functional form of local brittle strength conditions for a time- or history-dependent materials is presented. The particular strength condition associated with the Robinson linear damage accumulation rule and the power-type durability diagram is ...

Fatigue crack initiation and growth in a 35CrMo4 steel investigated by infrared thermography [PDF]
The present work is devoted to the investigation of fatigue crack initiation and growth in middle-cycle fatigue (∼105 cycles). Smooth specimens made of 35CrMo4 quenched and tempered steel were loaded in fully reversed plane bending.
