On the initiation of fretting fatigue cracks
This paper discusses macroscopic and microscopic approaches for prediction of the initiation of fretting fatigue cracks. A novel series of fretting fatigue tests is described, involving the cycling of fretting force and specimen load at different frequencies.

ALDOA Promotes Glycolysis and NLRP3/GSDMD Pyroptosis to Accelerate ALS Progression
ABSTRACT Objective Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is characterized by progressive motor neuron degeneration. Glycolytic dysregulation is implicated in disease progression, yet the underlying mechanisms remain unclear. This study investigates how Aldolase A (ALDOA) drives ALS progression through glycolysis‐mediated motor neuron pyroptosis.

A crack-like notch analogue for a safe-life fretting fatigue design methodology
Various analogies have recently been proposed for comparing the stress fields induced in fretting fatigue contact situations, with those of a crack and a sharp or a rounded notch, resulting in a degree of uncertainty over which model is most appropriate ...

Prominent Movement Disorders in RNU2‐2‐Related Spliceosomopathy
ABSTRACT Pediatric movement disorders often overlap with neurodevelopmental diseases, suggesting shared molecular mechanisms. Variants in small nuclear RNA (snRNA) genes encoding spliceosome components have recently been associated with neurodevelopmental disorders, termed “RNUopathies.” We analyzed genome sequencing data from 14 patients with ...

Initiation of internal fatigue crack in a carbide-free bainitic steel during high cycle fatigue
The crack initiation stage is crucial to the overall fatigue behavior of the carbide-free bainitic steels. Through S–N curve testing and fracture observation, it is demonstrated that internal crack initiation is the dominant mode during high cycle ...

Mechanisms of fatigue-crack initiation and their impact on fatigue life of AlSi7 die-cast components
In the course of the present study, in-situ observations of crack initiation and crack growth of naturally induced cracks in cyclically loaded specimens along with conventional fatigue tests and fracture surface analyses were performed.
