Fatigue is an increasingly recognised risk factor for transportation accidents. In light of this, there is the question of whether driving whilst fatigued should be a criminal offence. This paper discusses the current legal position, including the problems of voluntary conduct and self awareness. Three models for reform are proposed.

Thermal emission in fatigue described by power laws [PDF]
In the present work, a theoretical model proposed by the literature and focused on the relationship between microplasticizations thermal behaviour and fatigue scatter is analysed and applied to fatigue test results of standard and notched steel ...

A geometric size effect is evident in fatigue loading with a scaled cracked component of the same material appearing stronger in the sense of increased fatigue resistance. The number of cycles to failure can increase markedly with reduction in the size of a component and consequently, the use of scaled components to gauge fatigue life is invariably ...

Acoustic Emission Monitoring of Fatigue Crack Growth in Hadfield Steel
Evaluating the condition of a Hadfield steel crossing nose using existing inspection methods is subject to accessibility and geographical constraints. Thus, the use of conditional monitoring techniques to complement the existing inspection methods has ...

Fatigue Performance of 2017-T4 AL. alloy Under sub-zero Temperature by Using Electromechanical Freezing System [PDF]
The effects of sub-zero(-22Co) cyclic rotating bending on the S-N behavior and cumulative damage are reported for 207-T4 aluminum alloy .Experimental characterization of fatigue behavior showed that the S-N curves behavior may described by the following ...

Experimental and simulation study on Ⅰ-Ⅱ mixed-mode fatigue crack growth of TC4-DT welded joint
The crack growth in the structure shows the complex Ⅰ-Ⅱ mixed-mode under the combined tensile and shear fatigue loading. It is of great significance to understand its growth law for evaluating the fatigue life of structures accurately.
