A novel approach for evaluation of fattening performance: coefficient of fattening efficiency

open access: yesEuropean Poultry Science, 1996
Basic scientific background for coefficient of fattening efficiency (CFE) proposed for the first time instead of traditional performance criteria which inadequately interprete the fattening trials was explained, and proper results were calculated by selecting a published paper in this subject. CFE described by Weight Gain/Feed Conversion Ratio could be

The Influence of Tail Biting on Performance of Fattening Pigs [PDF]

open access: yesActa Veterinaria Scandinavica, 1996
In comparison to 29 non bitten animals, severe tail biting was found to decrease the daily weight gain (DWG) by 25% in 8 fattening pigs during the period of biting. However, when comparing the weight gain of the lifetime between bitten and non bitten pigs, no influence of the tail biting was found.
