Application of a Fault Detection and Isolation System on a Rotary Machine

open access: yesInternational Journal of Rotating Machinery, 2013
The paper illustrates the design and the implementation of a Fault Detection and Isolation (FDI) system to a rotary machine like a multishaft centrifugal compressor.

SDRE-based primary control of DC Microgrids equipped by a fault detection/isolation mechanism

open access: yesEnergy Reports, 2022
Due to the nonlinear dynamics of direct current (DC) microgrids, the existence of input constraints, and their multi-input multi-output (MIMO) nature, classical linear controllers cannot provide an appropriate performance in a wide range of operations ...

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Fault location and isolation technology for power grid automation based on intelligent algorithms

open access: yesEnergy Informatics
Background Power grid automation is critical for maintaining the stability and reliability of electrical grids. A major challenge in power grid management is identifying and isolating faults quickly and accurately to avoid widespread disruptions ...

The Soviet Viewpoint on Nuclear Weapons in International Law [PDF]

open access: yes, 1964
A flexible, model based fault detection and isolation (FDI) system for an arbitrary configuration of a water tank world has been designed and implemented in MATLAB, SIMULINK and dSPACE.

Comparison of different classification algorithms for fault detection and fault isolation in complex systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Due to the lack of sufficient results seen in literature, feature extraction and classification methods of hydraulic systems appears to be somewhat challenging.

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

A Voltage-Based Open-Circuit Fault Detection and Isolation Approach for Modular Multilevel Converters With Model-Predictive Control

open access: yesIEEE transactions on power electronics, 2018
Fault detection and isolation (FDI) is currently considered a crucial way to increase the reliability of modular multilevel converters (MMCs), which consist of a large number of power electronics submodules (SMs).

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.

The (Glg)ABCs of cyanobacteria: modelling of glycogen synthesis and functional divergence of glycogen synthases in Synechocystis sp. PCC 6803

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We reconstituted Synechocystis glycogen synthesis in vitro from purified enzymes and showed that two GlgA isoenzymes produce glycogen with different architectures: GlgA1 yields denser, highly branched glycogen, whereas GlgA2 synthesizes longer, less‐branched chains.
