Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Extension of the Stray Voltage Capture Short-Circuit Detection Method to a 6-Phase Fault-Tolerant Dual-Motor Drive

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Power Electronics
This article investigates and validates the applicability of the recently developed stray voltage capture (SVC) ultra-fast short-circuit (SC) detection method and its extended version (ESVC) to fault-tolerant multi-motor drives.

Identifying gene expression signatures for risk stratification of postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy in colorectal cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
A novel signature integrating genome‐wide analysis with clinical factors predicts recurrence in stage II colorectal cancer and enables a new risk stratification to guide postoperative adjuvant chemotherapy. Clinical risk stratification for postoperative recurrence in patients with pathological stage II (pStage II) colorectal cancer (CRC) is essential ...

A Novel Hybrid Platform Based on Deep Learning for Fault Detection and Localization in a Smart Distribution Grid

open access: yesJournal of Electrical and Computer Engineering
The reliability of smart transmission systems critically depends on the rapid and accurate detection and localization of faults. However, existing approaches face inherent limitations; thus, traveling-wave (TW) methods offer high localization accuracy ...

YIPFα1A expression is regulated by multilayered molecular mechanisms

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
YIPFα1A, a five‐pass Golgi protein, is regulated at multiple layers. (1) Rare‐codon enrichment drives translation‐coupled mRNA decay. (2) A proximal 3′‐UTR element stabilizes mRNA. (3) A distal 3′‐UTR element included by alternate poly(A) site usage represses translation, which can be overridden by the proximal 3′‐UTR element.

Wireless sensor network fault localization

open access: yes, 2008
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are widely used distributed systems that sense and interact with the physical world. Like other applications, wireless sensor network applications can be plagued by a variety of software faults.

Identifying transcription factors controlling the basal expression of human MRP4 highlights a substantial role for Sp1

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.
