Zzyzx: Scalable fault tolerance through Byzantine locking
2010 IEEE/IFIP International Conference on Dependable Systems & Networks (DSN), 2010Zzyzx is a Byzantine fault-tolerant replicated state machine protocol that outperforms prior approaches and provides near-linear throughput scaling. Using a new technique called Byzantine Locking, Zzyzx allows a client to extract state from an underlying replicated state machine and access it via a second protocol specialized for use by a single client.

An FDI approach for aircraft actuator lock-in-place fault
2007 IEEE International Conference on Control and Automation, 2007In this paper, an adaptive observer approach is developed to detect and isolate aircraft actuator faults. Particularly, the fault of actuator locked in place is considered. In a multiple-model scheme, a bank of parallel observers are constructed, each of which is based on a model that describes the system in the presence of a particular actuator fault.
