On the Relationship Between Fault Permeability Increases, Induced Stress Perturbation, and the Growth of Aseismic Slip During Fluid Injection

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 2018
Fluid injections into the deep subsurface can, at times, generate earthquakes, but often, they only produce aseismic deformations. Here we analyze the influence of fault hydromechanical properties on the growth of injection‐induced aseismic slip.

Development of physical model test system for fault-slip induced rockburst in underground coal mining

open access: yesJournal of Rock Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering
A complex geological environment with faults can be encountered in the process of coal mining. Fault activation can cause instantaneous structure slipping, releasing a significant amount of elastic strain energy during underground coal mining. This would

Geometry and slip rate of the Aigion fault, a young normal fault system in the western Gulf of Corinth

open access: yes, 2007
The Aigion fault is one of the youngest major normal faults in the Gulf of Corinth, Greece, with an immature displacement profile. Based on geometry, slip rate and comparison with regional faults, we estimate the fault system length at ~10 km.

Recyclable and Binder‐Free EGaIn–Carbon Liquid Metal Composite: A Sustainable Approach for High‐Performance Stretchable Electronics, Thermal‐Interfacing and EMI‐Shielding

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Binder‐free EGaIn–CB composite deliver printable, recyclable liquid‐metal conductors without sintering or polymer binders. Only 1.5 wt% CB yields shear‐thinning, high‐viscosity rheology, ∼60% bulk EGaIn conductivity, robust stretchability, high thermal conductivity, and strong EMI shielding (35 → 70 dB at 100% strain).

Data assimilation for fault slip monitoring and short-term prediction of spatio-temporal evolution of slow slip events: application to the 2010 long-term slow slip event in the Bungo Channel, Japan

open access: yesEarth, Planets and Space
Monitoring and predicting fault slip behaviors in subduction zones is essential for understanding earthquake cycles and assessing future earthquake potential. We developed a data assimilation method for fault slip monitoring and the short-term prediction
