Recent Perspectives on Phytochemical Profile, Pharmacological Activities, and Industrial Applications of Guava (Psidium guajava)

open access: yesFood Safety and Health, EarlyView.
Psidium guajava leaves contain potent bioactive compounds like quercetin, myricetin, and triterpenoids that show antioxidant, antidiabetic, anti‐inflammatory, and anticancer effects. They act by modulating NF‐κB, PPARγ, and α‐glucosidase and by inducing apoptosis and cell cycle arrest.

Fiber Bragg Grating sensors for deformation monitoring of GEM foils in HEP detectors

open access: yes, 2015
Fiber Bragg Grating (FBG) sensors have been so far mainly used in high energy physics (HEP) as high precision positioning and re-positioning sensors and as low cost, easy to mount, radiation hard and low space- consuming temperature and humidity devices.

Comparison of glycemic excursion in patients with new onset type 2 diabetes mellitus before and after treatment with repaglinide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Due to industrialization and sedentary life, incidence of type 2 diabetes (DM2) is increasing seriously. Repaglinide is a glucose reducing agent that predominantly reduces post-prandial glucose.

Diagnostic performance of urinary adipsin as a screening biomarker for pre‐eclampsia

open access: yesInternational Journal of Gynecology &Obstetrics, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective This study evaluated the diagnostic performance of urinary adipsin as a potential biomarker for pre‐eclampsia screening in a low‐resource setting. Methods A case–control study was conducted involving 150 pregnant women classified into three groups: 50 healthy pregnancies, 50 high‐risk pregnancies without pre‐eclampsia, and 50 ...

Postoperative Fasting Blood Glucose Predicts Prognosis in Stage I-III Colorectal Cancer Patients Undergoing Resection

open access: yesGastroenterology Research and Practice, 2020
Purpose. The relationship between high blood glucose and colorectal cancer (CRC) has been studied, but the role of postoperative fasting blood glucose (FBG) in patients with a prior normal FBG has never been addressed. Methods.

Hadronization within the Non-Extensive Approach and the Evolution of the Parameters

open access: yes, 2019
We review transverse momentum distributions of various identified charged particles stemming from high energy collisions fitted by various non-extensive distributions as well as by the usual Boltzmann-Gibbs statistics. We investigate the best-fit formula

Early matrine intervention of gut microbiota for type 2 diabetes prevention

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
How matrine influences gut microbiota imbalance to prevent the progression of diabetes remains unclear. We conduct experiments using mice to simulate the stages of diabetes development and matrine intervention. Combined with amplicon sequencing, we find that the gut microbiota of diabetic mice continuously changes with the progression of the disease ...

Ultrasonic Sensitivity of Strain-Insensitive Fiber Bragg Grating Sensors and Evaluation of Ultrasound-Induced Strain

open access: yesSensors, 2010
In conventional ultrasound detection in structures, a fiber Bragg grating (FBG) is glued on or embedded in the structure. However, application of strain to the structure can influence the sensitivity of the FBG toward ultrasound and can prevent its ...

PRAXIS: a low background NIR spectrograph for fibre Bragg grating OH suppression

open access: yes, 2012
Fibre Bragg grating (FBG) OH suppression is capable of greatly reducing the bright sky background seen by near infrared spectrographs. By filtering out the airglow emission lines at high resolution before the light enters the spectrograph this technique ...

Efficacy of omega‐3 fatty acids as a functional food: a multifaceted approach to health reinforcement

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract Omega‐3 fatty acids (omega‐3s) are polyunsaturated fatty acids linked with numerous health benefits. Omega‐3s exhibit multifaceted activities through various mechanisms. Eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) alleviates oxidative stress by lowering reactive oxygen species and improving oxidative stress in brain tissues and acts against neurodegenerative ...
